mine is in the LPG shop right now getting the conversion done. Should be done by tomorrow or thursday. I've started a thread for it in the Fuel section if you want to follow the progress.

$4800 is the average price. The system I am getting is limited to 450FWHP but if you pay another $900 for a new converter fully installed it will go to 750FWHP

As a guide, I currently have approx 255rwkw which is approx 300FWKW which is again approx 400FWHP.

Oh and if power is what you want, then setup your car to have big power when on petrol and economy or average power when running on LPG. I dont want much more power than I already have but I can still tune the petrol to go higher or both if I pay for the additional converter

Petrol is better for your engine as it has lubricants so I will need to run my car on petrol every now and again.

As someone has stated, if you can, wait for Liquid Injected LPG as it overcomes pretty much every LPG shortcoming and has big power potential. I couldn't wait.

this is really interesting...

what are the costs involved of getting this sort of set up smoke'em??

also excuse my ignorance but which type of fuel is more reliable and better for the engine?? or are they pretty much the same thing??

also.... does anyone know how much power a standard LPG system could handle?

cost is $4400 fitted and tuned and takes three days

Guys,

the latest John Mellors GoAuto news is out and it discusses the new Liquid LPQ technology. A really good read. You can get it here:

The link above only links to the most current edition so if you are reading this some distant time in the future...then the back-issues can be read here (compare the date of this post to the dates on the website):

well ive made my mind up to go ahead with the gas fitting, bit of a waiting list though end of july sometime, so once its done ill add to this thread, but the way fuel pricec are going its worth thinking about. im also adding a flash tuner, typhoon snorkel, larger fuel pump and injectors and an heavy duty clutch in the very near future. so some interesting times ahead.

catch later dg

Interesting....my T has the same hesitation on Sprintgas SVI.

Ive been on SVI for 12 months now running dual convertors. Car runs out of puff around 240rwkw on the one set of injectors. JUST cuts over to petrol prior to reaching her 244 peak, but that is tuning to Autogas and I usually run her on propane. Mine isnt a perfect example as its a daily commuter and setup sweet and mild on 8psi. Im told the 'newer' injectors will flow more on the same setup, one day perhaps ;)

ktm whose system is your friend running and is he running dual convertors also?

I've loved every visit to the pump in my last 25000kms, no regrets. But right now I would be inclined to see how the liquid pans out, and whether all the promise is delivered.

With the rebate far as I know it was purely speculation. Produced a spike in LPG bookings, but equally far as I know its not going away at this time anyway.

Not sure if this is true, but was told the Gov rebate ends soon.

Can anyone confirm?

I was told that the rebate doesnt end utill end of 2009 but things change so quickly when the govt has anything to do with it.

Not to shore whos system he's running, however slight hesitation was caused by main gas line, it was a bit to small as his xr6 T has been edited. It has since been upgraded to a bigger gas line and as far as I know all is well. I've booked my T in for the gas conversion early August, I never really wanted to go down the path of gas (Only because of Red sticker on number plates....lol) but as the price of fuel keeps sky rocketing I have decided this will be the only cost efective way to have a high powered car with a low running cost.

I will post up my results once conversion is complete

the rebate was potentially going to end due to a whole series of 'cuts on spending' by Rudd and his team but it was saved from the axe and it is still available.
