hi guys. has anyone had any experience with running these magnifecent vehicles on gas. it can be done, or so the gas doctor has told me, bit more expensive than a normal fit. $4800 then with the gov rebate of $3000 it costs about $1800. might take me a while to recoup the cost but I guess if im keeping her for a few years it might be worth it. is there any xr6t's out there already fitted with gas ??

cheers dg

Yes it can be done, do a net search on Vapour phase injection LPG or if you can wait awhile Liquid phase injection LPG is not far way.

I have a magazine, with a guy from SA I think who fitted one on his T.. His T was also running over 300rwkw's and the writer of the mag commented that he couldnt feel/tell the difference when running on gas then switched back to petrol.. Performance was the same he said...

From what I've read if you get your T tuned properly it will actually increase your power as the LPG is a faster and cooler burning fuel.

that's true to some extent but most gas systems can not flow enough gas to sustain high power, meaning you would need duel tanks + gas lines.

the car Mika is talking about ran duel fuel, gas for low power applications and petrol when the throttle was stabbed to the floor, that's the best setup because you get the daily economy of gas and the weekend potential of fuel

there was a Nissan RB30 Turbo in a toyota hilux ute at motorvation a couple of years ago (WA's SUMMERNATS), that was biuilt for gas only with a compression ratio of 12:1 and had a little over 310kw at the rubber. Apparently gas runs well in high comp applications so ...

so I can be done! Then again building an engine like he did to suit the gas for power applications costs money- I imagine would probably just be cheaper to stick with petrol and not build a bomb custom expensive engine haha,

that's is my mates dads car APE. he owns adelaide performance engineers im having that same system put on mine in the coming weeks. he is running 330 RWKW with 1300nm it hauls ass and uses the same amount of fuel a week as a standard turbo. the system uses lpg to certain point under load when the load exceeds that capable of the lpg injectors. it switches to petrol without any coffing or rev change under load. it is quiet amazing. but the lpg set up if it was used on a standard T would be capable of handling the stock power easily so no need to change to petrol unless driver chooses

this is really interesting...

what are the costs involved of getting this sort of set up smoke'em??

also excuse my ignorance but which type of fuel is more reliable and better for the engine?? or are they pretty much the same thing??

also.... does anyone know how much power a standard LPG system could handle?
