Aggree with most of above but one thing that's important to me in a car is looks and road presence and in this the XR6T is ahead by a country mile, also resale is yet to be determined, most of the motoring write ups prefer the auto so an auto/auto comparo would be great also

Mercturbo,

My opinion is that the WRX looks ordinary, and the XRT6 looks great. Didn’t stop me buying a WRX though. There are far more sportier looking cars than a WRX… a WRX is more a rally car before anything else.

I would never consider an auto WRX. Test drove one once …. Far too much lag in kick-down for my liking. The current WRX in manual form is extremely easy to drive, and clutch, gearbox, accelerator tension and throttle response make it a totally different proposition to the XR6T

My wifes view is that she would only ever consider an auto XR6T, and she would only ever consider a manual WRX.

best of both worlds here too, I have a modified 180SX for my spirited driving and XR6T for daily triver/tourer. :D

and dynosteve at redcliffe dyno is getting over 400hp out of his xr6t (appparently a 10K upgrade), is currently doing wheelspinning 12's.

Better than comparing it to a Taurus. :gasthrower:

One conjecture though:

The XR6T is version 1, the WRX is close to version 10.

Basing the Falcon on a standard model without the snail the T's up there with the WRX in version models and R&D.

Point kaken dagabond.

Ignoring the turbo it’s more like version 30 ….. well beyond the WRX … my first 4.1 litre falcon was 28 years ago!. However I’ll just say version 1 for the T and hope the T will be part of the model range for many years to come, so that it undergoes continuous improvement and Ford listens to our feedback.

Great Write up, I have also contimplated both cars. I have been in both cars. For me it all comes down to insurance. I am 25 with 60% NCB and the rex cost about $3000 more to insure then the XRT. I have also been a ford fan for all of my life. Also you guys may be aware APS have developed a few power upgrades that really make sense. I will attach the link, its a great read, it also appeared in wheels. Hey 330kw from my XRT without any major changes Im all for that.

The rex may be faster and more fun to drive but I think a 330kw Falcon 6r will do me just fine for a Family car.

Regards

Ozzie :D

AS the saying goes "Horses for Courses". The WRX is based on a rally platform and the Ford on a straight line grunt, big family platform.

My vote goes to the XR6 Turbo, no really, just cause I own one does'nt mean I'm bias :innocent: , also have owned and enjoyed my car for nearly 4 months now I can honestly say that the 'Bird' is better looking, more comfortable, has more room, better quality sound system and is a sexier car. This car just ooozes it, sure the WRX might handle the twisty bits better, but at least with the XR6T you won't end up on a dialisis machine cause the rough ride has shot your kidneys to bits. :D

Can't Get Enough Of THIS!

Very good Review BCL  -seems honest and sounds about right

I just think the Rex looks like a ricer and the T looks like an Aussie Brute

Definitely a legend in the making
