LOL, nice jab mick...

As it was mentioned earlier, unless Mustangman imports an entire car, tuning would be tricky considering he wouldn't have a functioning BEM/Cluster/ICC.

its no dramas, he can tune it himself using the SCT pro racer package, im sure he is familiar with this in the states unlike us aussies over here...

If your into drag racing, go with an auto, many people here are using built C4 transmissions or t400`s or even the BTR is good enough with mods for 500rwhp. They can all be adapted to this engine.

If you buy a post 06/06 engine, you wont have to change a thing internally for 500rwhp, not even the valve springs, mine makes 530rwhp and 850+ rwtq @ 18psi and I drive it everyday, no problems in over 12months so far. Just a few bolt on mods gets you nice power and torque.

60lb injectors is what youll need, along with a good 3.5inch minimum free flowing exhuast paying special attention to the CAT if you must have one. A new intercooler and plumbing @ 3inch is also needed. 12psi actuator and some internal wastegate porting means you can control boost using the standard watercooled internally gated turbo to about 650fwhp before this turbo runs out of puff... Then all you need to do is tune it using advantage III, flash it with your xcal2 and your done.

Im sure you could pick up almost new engine for about $3-4000 then shipping to the states on top.

I dont believe any part of this engine is available anywhere but australia.

Who told you about this engine anyways?

ll oh and is the 302 HO (5.0 liter) an available engine over there? just curious.

Hi mustangman - that's a great looking Stang!

In its Falcons, Ford Australia started using the 289W in 1967 and then the 302W and 351W in 69 and 70. Then it was all Cleveland from 1970 to 1982 at which point they ceased offering V8s for a while.

Then in 1991 Falcons became available with the 165kw (220hp) 5.0 from the US Mustang. This continued in various guises until 2002 - Australia was the last market to sell the 302W in a new car as Ford here stockpiled the last of the "Explorer" 5.0L engines and offered them in their AU Falcons from 1998 til 2002.

The last and best Aussie 5.0L Windsors included a hand built (by "Tickford" - do a search) 300hp engine with mildly ported GT40P heads, roller rockers, a cam, 70mm throttle body and about a 9.5:1 (??) comp ratio. I had one of these in an AU Falcon and loved it.

Correct me you disagree, but the 346 (5.6L) stroker offered by Ford Tickford Engineering (FTE) is recognised as the finest 302W based engine offered in a factory car, even though it still had GT40P heads. Some owners replaced these with AFR 165s to great effect. These cars (TE50, TS50 came with TR3650 5spd manual trans as the T5 was too weak or a BTR 4spd auto.

I'd love to see one of these engines in a Fox Body Mustang - nice and light! The Ford modular V8s just don't do it for me, but a nice Windsor still makes me want another one!

There we go - a brief summary of the 5.0L in Oz!

Good luck with your quest to get an XR6T engine Stateside.

Mark

sorry I have been without a computer for a few days. to answer of previous question of how I heard about this engine. my best friend just got a r32 skyline and he was talking smack about they are "the most amazing cars" he was saying that the japs can make more power than americans using less cylinders and run up and down on any ford out there. so I was searching for 6 cylinder engines and stumbled across the video of the I6 on the dyno with the glowing header and through a little more searching I found out more and more about this engine. then I stumbled across the video of the right side drive 60's era mustang almost jumping off the dyno that is powered by a SOHC 4.0L Turbo I6 which eventually led me to here.... and hours of reading on this forum (to the point where my eyes hurt) I decided to become a member and ask some questions. my first thought was to get one of these engines and drop it into my stang but I already have so much invested in my 5.0 that I just cant bring myself to do it. I already have edelbrock performer rpm heads, ford racing f-cam, edelbrock performer rpm intake, and a vortec v-2 series sq trim with a 12 pound pully.... I made 300hp and 320 tq before the supercharger. so with all of that I just cant change my mind at the last minute and drop in an exotic motor. but began to think.... the fox mustang weighs about 700 pounds lighter than the SN-95 (94-99 mustang) snd with the inline 6 I would save even more weight (plus the cool factor of having the aussi I6 LOL) so with some good suspension pieces and even a lightly modded I6 I could run low 11's (give or take) the only things holding me back is getting the I6. plus I just found out that I am gonna be a father so all funds are now being diverted to doctor bills so even the mustang is just waiting in the garage until I get the cash to finish it. so for now it is all a future dream/plan. but I still wanna know everything about the I6 that I can... knowledge is power right? I mainely just wanna show my best friend the true power of FORD and show him the real meaning of BUILT FORD TOUGH the hard way.... at the track as he is reading my liscense plate and admiring my tail lights.

In that form the only other vehicle is a Territory (SUV/soft roader). Also in the F6 Typhoon (sedan) or Tornado (Utility)...but they are basically just tarted up versions of the XR6 Turbo.

Ford use the I6 engine in everything in the falcon range that's not a V8, just toughened up and a turbo bolted on the sides for these things.

The same engine is in the Ford Territory - see the Territory forum here.

It would be neat to do it.

About 15 years ago I was visiting friends in Lake City - not too far from you. It was a real Good Ole Boy town and everybody was into stock car racing. When I got back to Oz I ended up shipping a few sets of Aussie closed chamber Cleveland heads to the Lake City guys. They had heard about them (pre-internet) and wanted them pretty bad. They reckoned those heads gave them the winning edge. I got quite a buzz out of helping them out.
