Went to Titans today and they had a manual Ford Motor Co FGXR6T there until friday and I took it for a quick run.

To be fair on the car it had 4500 probably very hard klm on it. But it had shocking driveline shunt and the box felt very notchy, although the 2nd to 3rd long throw is gone. It was very quiet and had no rattles but felt smaller inside. Also the doors, although they are apparently made of higher tensile steel, felt very light and tinny to close. The car also felt smaller inside and the speedo and gauges are hard to read, although the driving position is better and the seats are more comfortable than the BF. I like the raised up command centre but think the BF has a nicer all round interior, especially the inner door trim, also thought that the interior lights, although throwing plenty of light, look too big and a bit like after thought add ons.

Power wise it was hard to tell although it was certainly no slug and although the handling has improved significantly the brakes ae still a bit ordinary. All in all, and although there has to be model changes, I prefer the BF. I think that the series 2 FG will be an improvement, and compared with the opposition offerings the car should do very well in its class. It deserves to.

I drove the same car on wednesday morning and I to noticed when the salesman was driving it off the main road it had a fair amount of driveline shunt... I hope that's not normal... overall though I thought it went like a shower of sh*t (havent driven alot of Xr Turbo's, mainly silvia's etc) I loved the interior and the overall look! Hopefully the driveline shunt was just a little more then normal on this one and not all the ones to come! Though I loved everything else I will probably be ordering one anyway :roflmbo:

Yeah to be fair on the car it did have 4500 what would have been very hard klms, but still it is not a good omen for driveline shunt and you would think that after 6 years they would have done something about it. Going by how that one drove you wouldn't want to give one a hard time too much

I have to agree with you but funny enough when I drove the car I didnt seem to notice any shunt only when the salesman drove it from the dealership to a side street so I could take it for a burn. Its something that should of been fixed considering its a new gearbox they are using which should of helped alittle atleast. Which salesman took you out?

Chris Preedy gave me the keys and I went by myself. All in all a good car but I prefer the BF. Maybe I've just put too much power into the BF to be thrilled by the FG. For a stcok car it went really well though. I liked the handling and NVH improvements

A gt40 has never been fitted to any car that im aware of let along the ford xr6t.

Thew gt3582r is the standard turbo for BA and BF models, the new turbo is the same gt35 exhaust wheel with a smaller compressor wheel.

A pretty sh*t turbo in my opinion

I can't accept this "it's had a 4500km put on it" to justify it's driveline shunt. There's a reason Ford and Expensive Daewoo have a bad rap for build quality - good to see nothings changed much.

Shunting at 4500 kms? how pathetic. I drive an EA with 350,000 kays on the clock and no shunting at all. Dont understand how they can build a car with this issue and claim it's normal.
