Reading all these posts about extended delivery times, I'm glad I took the option to buy an existing XR6T in stock at the dealer's, rather than waiting for the delivery of a new one.  Be patient though guys, the wait is definitely worth it.  BA XR6 turbo is fantastic! And I've been a Holden / Chev man all my life!

Welcome tur . botom, err, I mean turbo . tom

Glad to hear you're happy with the T. Enjoy the forum and all the good folks around. Some very cluey people here.

Couldn't resist another "ring" joke hey Ken?!

My car only took about a month from order to delivery, I think it was actually quicker than what the dealer promised. I had to defer it for a week because my money hadn't come through yet.

I spoke to Power Ford earlier today and the news got even worse. Now I'm told that I will probably not get my car until Nov. That makes it a 7 mth wait. I have asked the dealer not to call me anymore because every time I speak to them they push the delivery date out an extra month. I'm afraid that if I talk to them again I might not get a car until 2005. This sucks :angry:

That's just wrong :tears:. Depending on what options you want, you'd think there must be a car somewhere near Sydney that you could purchase pretty much right away.

I'd seriously consider going to another dealer - our site sponsors must be able to help out a member in need.

Without even looking, I know of a citric acid T and a blood orange T sitting in Adelaide dealer's showrooms awaiting their first owners - good discounts available too! Must be even better selection in or near Sydney!Sure, I know that it's better to option it the way you want and that's why I ordered mine (delivery in 7 more sleeps!!).

But don't forget that sunroof, leathr, brakes etc (and probably a sound upgrade) can be done aftermarket to the same or better standard than from Ford - the dealer will even arrange this if you ask nicely.

I have lost the will to fight any longer. I have accepted that I may not see my car until nearly christmas. I am not happy but have decided I can't be bothered argueing or questioning any more. My one parting shot was a very nice letter addressed to G. Polites. I probably won't recieve a response but I asked the following questions:

"I think that since I am being made to wait 7 mths for a locally built car, I am entitled to an explanation as to why. Perhaps I could also have answers to the following questions :

· Why do Ford continue to show television adds featuring the XR6 Turbo when they are not able to deliver cars to those who have already ordered them?

· Why is Ford beating it's chest about the imminent production of the Territory, a completely new vehicle, when you cannot build enough cars to meet current orders in a reasonable time?

· Why does a large metropolitan dealer like Power Ford Castle Hill have such a small allocation of these cars? Is Power Ford lying to me about the circumstances of the delay, if not why was I originally told that because of their size they get a large allocation of vehicles and now they tell me that Ford has cut that allocation to a trickle.

· Does anyone at Ford monitor the web. Sites such as www.fordforums.com and www.fordxr6turbo.com are great sources of information about public reaction to your service and products. At the moment product wise the public loves Ford but service wise there are a lot of disgruntled customers.

· Why is it that when I ask questions on the above mentioned web sites that I find out that some people who have ordered similar cars to mine have had them delivered in a third of the time?

· A consensus of opinion seems to be that because these vehicles are in short supply dealers will get cars quicker for non fleet buyers because they earn more money out of the deal. It has been suggested that I may have been shuffled to the back of the list because I am a fleet buyer. Does this happen? What can Ford do about this if it is true?

· Can Ford give me a build date for my car? The dealer told me he can’t. I am frightened that if I ring him again I might not get the car until 2004 as every time I speak to them it gets pushed back a further month."

I know this won't do any good but it made me feel better. :( :( :(
