g'day again

just had an aps phase 3 kit fitted with 60lb injectors & x force 4"dump, 3 1/2 cat & 2 x 1/2 y pipes. they had the car for nearly 2 weeks trying to get it right (dont care walk to work anyway). it had an intermitant prob that's why its been there for so long, but anyway the end result today after lots of dyno tests was 460rwhp which is pretty tame saying the products that have been fitted & they knew it. I had an aftermarket 2 x 2 1/2 after cat back exhaust fitted when I first bought the car. its got a slight rattle & so on & after talking to a bloke id highly recommend from best mufflers in sydney he said its basically a aftermarket replacement for the factory system & is you know what for what im trying to achieve. anyway after dropping that system off without touching anything it made 515rwhp. put it back on 460 & dropped it again just to make sure & it made 508. the end result is that it has to be replaced. ive order one from the cat a single 3 1/2 xforce system. whats anyone/everyones thoughts & experiences on the system. & yes its getting it retuned which im not paying for.

thanks john

they are a widely used system mate, im sure you wont have any troubles with it, and should give you 500+ consistently.

im sure there will be a flurry of people ready to buy your y pipes too!!

I think I could live with 500 on a daily driver. haha. I just cant believe that that shi&&y exhaust could hold it back so much.

its a 2 x 2 1/2 undercar mild steel system. the set up at the moment is on 17psi & all they did was drop the back half of the exhaust off & it pulled 515. they did the excercise twice. tried it on first 460 droppped 515 back on 460 dropped it & went 508. had seen a few street runs & dyno runs by then. ive never heard anything like it (such a diff). he would pull my leg because one of my mates works there & he told me to buy the samebrand exhaust I had on the topend so no gain for him to do it.

Are you saying your twin 2.5 inch xforce cat back is restricting your car, or another type of cat back that came with the car ?.

I heard the twin 2.5 inch outflows the single 3.5 inch by abit of a margin and was recommended it by xforce themselves.

no I bought a 2 x 2 1/2 exhaust system made by undercar when I first bought the car but as far as the 3 1/2 & the 2 x 2 1/2 arguement im not sure all I can go on is the bloke I spoke to that deals in x force recommened a single 3 1/2 system for my car & does so (single systems) for any high powered cars he supplies for. explaination was turbulance is created when going from cat to y pipes. dont want to start a debate just repeating info.

I asked the same question but that was his recommendation. I dont know. if anyone has done a side by side comparison or somewhere along those lines it would help. not that it really matters ive already done the deed, but can never hurt to know too much. anyone got figures with a aps kit with twin or single x force set up?

Ah k, well from the I was told the twin 2.5s =5 inches of flow compared to the single 3.5 inch,

It doesn't work like

you need to use your maths skills to work it out. pye*(r squared)

and to be 100% exact you need to take into account the wall thickness of the pipe being used
