I would get neither of these two.

Wait it out for a month or two until a low klm BFII comes along. Then buy that one!

:stupid: just wait until a better Bf comes along. It may take another month or two, but you are going to have the car for alot longer than that. Now that the FG has arrived you will start seeing more of the Bf's come up for sale as people upgrade and besides, if your after an auto the ZF is streets ahead of the 4 speed.

Goodluck anyway and this is only my 5 cents worth (can't get 2 cents worth anymore.... everything is going up in price)

The problem with all this is that I can get the BA for $23K.....

I'll wait a little longer and have a look around...

Thanks for the input everyone,

Dan

Surely the extra goodies you get spending an extra 8K on a BF2 over a BA is worth it? I cant understand spending 23K on a BA when you can spend a bit more and get a car that does not need upgraded valve springs, a new clutch or strengthened tranny and has tougher rods and is less likely to go boom when modified. Also less k's

I agree with either waiting or getting the best BF1/2 you can for the best price.

^^ Sorry mate,

Can't remember the mont off the top of my head...

Looks like I'll be getting a BF then - I just thought the BA was a steal.

So I'll want a BF II or a later BF I coz of the F6 Bottom end? Is that right??

Cheers guys,

Dan

Starting out with a car that has 100,000 klms is asking for trouble:

1) warrant is finished, so even things you pick up straight away are at your cost

2) you will have a very hard time selling it once you are finished with it

3) highway klms or not, 100,000 is 100,000 - that is a lot in 12 months (hell, that is a lot in 2 years)

BA is a BA and they do have a reputation for having tranny and bottom end issues, particularly if you start modding.

If you have a limited budget, buy a low mileage ex-chaser BFII. You can pick one up for around $23-24K, and it will have around 50,000 klms on it. Drive it for few months and sort out any warranty issues (it should come with warranty, even ex-chaser) and then modify it.

If you can stretch it a bit further than low-mid 20's (say $27K), you will get a good private BF or BFII in time. Keep watching carsales, and be prepared to travel interestate. The money you will save buying in the Eastern states (more supply) will more than offset the cost of the airfare over and fuel to drive it back.

The only drawback is that you are limited to white in most cases. The plus is you will get a $40K+ car for around half price with only 50,000 klms on it. When you go to sell it, people won't really care if it is an ex-chaser, in fact people probably won't even think to look after you've owned for a few years.

Just my thoughts.

Cheers

Dan
