Wheather they be for cars, trucks or bikes, they always show some sort of brand bias, and in the case of reporting acurate times for Fords, they have never gotten close to reality. History proves that they will give glowing reviews of new Fords initially, then keep dropping their times in following editions. As has already been said, the only times we can trust, are those done by 'real' drivers, with time slips. I reckon all the auto boys should get some ability to turn left and right and get a manual lol.

It's 2008, technology has advanced and new, good, auto boxes are perfroming better than many manuals. Mainly because of the shift times being much faster than humanly possible in a manual. FG-XR6T Member 177 Member For: 16y 10m Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 13/06/08 10:28 AM Author Share Posted 13/06/08 10:28 AM heheh I think your right monza. DSG have two clutches. The next gear is engaged before the first 1 is diengaged so changes are almost instant. TMac F1 cars and GTR gearboxes do not even come in the same catergory as a ZF box. Yes the ZF box is good but not that good. GTR boxes shift in 200millisecss, F1 cars in 60 millisecs. I cant say for F1 but a GTR uses A DSG box setup..... sorry mate bad bad comparo..... and even if you want to go to that step sayin DSG's are faster in a straight line. Yes admitily they are but ive seen comparos with Goldf GTI's which are considered to have a fantastic DSG box and the DSG was only .2 secs quicker 1/4 mile than a conventional manual and that was due to a better launch with DSG. I reckon both boxes are great so im not knocking either but to say ZF is like F1 or GTR is amusing, I agree with all the auto guys that auto 'should' be faster over the quarter than a manual but id rather go faster turning lefy and right so the manual is my choice for that reason. If I had a spare 6 figure sum laying around though id probably by a GTR and its "auto" lol, not that you get a choice.Ford shouldve released a sequential manual with the FG, wouldve solved all probs
hulk xr6t Member 160 Member For: 17y 3m 17d Posted 13/06/08 12:10 PM Share Posted 13/06/08 12:10 PM Firstly... I wanted to tear that magazine up... How slow is that FG XR6T... Drive them on gravelly surfaces... Just ridiculous...Next the front cover says W427, we thrash the crap out of it (or word to that effect).. Inside they say ohh ohh it was raining and we didnt want to lose control of it so we drove it easy...Just robbery... Next magazine im gonna read the article in the newsagent... If I dont like it, ill grab a cigarette lighter and burn it in the shop.. I hate articles like that. they always qualify the performance... it was raining, it was gravelly... So in a whole month they cant find anywhere not gravelly or raining...
