Boys, I wanna see how many people think a stock FG XR6T manual will be quicker than auto or visa versa . Just to see how lob sided it is? If you think manual will be say "manual" if auto say "auto". We are talking bog standard. No mods. And when I say quicker I mean 2 things. Of the line and roll on acceleration.( And you have to remember how often is street racing a full 400m's)

I think a well driven manual will equal or be lil better of the line as an auto. Roll on speed I think the manual would have it.

Remember these are opinions, no sh*t fighting fellas,

so that 1 to manual

would everyone here agree a stock FG XR6T manual 80 - 120 in 3rd beat an auto in drive?

No idea.

case 1

auto in 3rd (manually selected) and manual in 3rd, engine is below 1500rpm auto torque convertor is not locked.

case 2

auto in 3rd (manually selected and manual in 3rd, engine is above 1500rpm auto torque convertor is locked.

case 3.0

If manual is in 6th and auto is in 6th and both are required to shift into third

case 3.1

auto shift - auto is in adaptive mode and points are low

case 3.2

auto shift - auto is in adaptive mode and points are high

case 3.3

auto shift - auto is in performace mode

case 3.4

auto is in adaptive mode (this affects the shifting required) and is shifted into 3rd manually

case 3.5

auto is in performance mode and is shifted into 3rd manually

case 3.6

auto is in manual mode and is shifted manually

Regards,

aa

The manual would be doing around 3220 revs and the auto would be doing 2750 revs.

I'd put my money on the manual, as it has the 17% gearing advantage in 3rd gear, and starting higher on the torque curve.

I have done a few calculations.

Interesting, with regard to 1st gear, currently the ZF 1st gearing, combined with the 2.73 diff ratio, has a 14.7% gearing advantage over the manual. If Ford have changed the manual from a 2.66 first gear to 2.97 (as standard from the TR6060 box) then the overall gearing advantage drops from 14.7% to just 2.8%. If the new launch control allows the manual to get boost off the line, and there is no boost off the line in the auto then I'd expect the manual to launch quicker.

there is still that bit of guess work with regards to clutch manipulation. it is tricky to get the right amount of clutch slip/bite

Motor magazine have always been byist towards HOLDEN! Why is it every time they compare the Ford vs Holden, the Expensive Daewoo always comes out on top. It an absolute joke! Ford is obviously a better car and until the VE the Expensive Daewoo could not even compare with any Ford (even the AU).

Go to the LS1 forum. The editor of motor posted on the site letting forum members know that they did a review on the W427. I don't know about them being biased, because they gave the editor a serious bagging about how crap they thought the magazine was. Especially regarding one of the journo's, I think his name was morbidity?
