How Much Is Xr6t Performance Affected On Hot Days?

Hi all,

It's good to see that everyone is happy with their XR6T and congrats to all. Personally, I'm waiting for the XR8 to finally make a decision on whether to get a Turbo or the Boss next year.

I have a question for those with XR6Ts and in particular those with autos. I realise that all cars suffer performance losses on hot days, however, how much of a difference does the 'T' lose in its performance when the outside temperature rises? Is the difference minimal or substantial?

Haven't got the exact figures but judging on Motor and Wheels times (if you believe them) there appears to be less than 0.5 seconds difference in the 0-400 times. The slowest time recorded so far for an XR6T was a 14.5, the quickest 14.1 but I think the temp was just above 30C for the 14.5 run.

(Correct me if I'm wrong on these anyone)

For my non-race track style of driving, it won't make that much of a difference.

I have noticed a bit of a diference on hotter days above 32 degrees.. but its not much of a difference to even mention.. Power Output is around the same.

I have driven my XR6T for 2 weeks now, and have had som pretty hot days here in Perth. I have noticed that bottom end power seems to be affected by high temperatures (38 deg.C.), and there is noticable turbo lag. Today and the last couple of days were cooler, and it runs like a dream!

I think it could be caused by the excessive retardation of the ignition when the air temp sensor picks up the hot air. Top end performance does not seem to be affected noticably.

Has anyone else detected this on an XR6T auto? :hiwelcome:
