Hi,

Long time reader first time poster!

I'm looking at putting a car computer into my XR6 Turbo.

I would like to use the ICC Colour Screen already in the car, I've seen the converters that allow me to plug VGA into them, but because they are not touch screen, I'm interested to hear from people using the ICC screen as to how they interface with the carputer.

IR Remote, Touch Screen Overlay, Trackball, Keyboard and Mouse etc?

Thanks.

Greenie.

Just posted this on another topic about touch screens...

If your in Sydney - Look up a place called Marknet... they might be able to help you out with LCD overlays...

:innocent:

Also 3M was making screen over lays for standard LCD's, and there was a number of places customizing in Sydney, can't remember who but...

Also - if you do a bit of a search on here, you will find a number of other guys that have overcome the control issue with various methods... As you have listed...

I had usb touchpad, the same as found on laptops, mounted next to my steeringwheel and a mini usb keyboard. I ended up cracking the sh*ts with it and just went for a simple dvd player running through the screen.

I've used a wireless mouse which was very easy to use and now I'm trialling a touch pad.

A stand alone dvd player doesn't suit my needs. Music and satav is what I use mine for mostly.

Thanks for everyones input.

From what I've been reading, a touchscreen is the ultimate solution. Just need to find one that fits and is easy enough to install :)

Thanks.

These ones are no good, they use the old resistive touchscreen technology and they show too much glare. You get what you pay for with these things.
