it seems its a market for sellers at the moment.

For buyers... it's bloody hard to sell T's at the moment. Buyers can screw you down heaps because if you want to sell you have to take the best offer, which is probably loooow

I've got my BFII ZF6 with 18K on it and a few options at $33,750negotiable and I thought that was pretty cheap.

I traded mine 3 months ago (BFI with ZF) for $28K - had 38,000klms. Went from Subaru (wholesaled) to a local auction house with a "buy price" of $32K there, then showed up at Metro Ford for $35K and they now have it for $30K ($29,990).

There are a LOT of dealer BF's (some ex-chasers) for under $30K, and remember it is easier to buy from a dealer when people need finance. It is harder (more mucking around) to finance a private sale than it is to finance a dealer car. You would need to be under dealer pricing if you are serious about selling. At $33,750 you are far from cheap, and you've had it for sale for some time now.

I think I did alright in the end - traded with no tyre kickers, no time wasters and no sitting around waiting for the phone to ring.

EDIT: Forgot to mention - search for an F6. You can pick up a low klm BF F6 for under $40K. There is even a BFII with 5,000 in auto for $43K!!!! Prices are falling, and falling fast.

Its a good time to pick up a cheap, well equipped T now. And it will only get better for the buyers and harder for the sellers, but in the end that's the name of the game.......I just wish some people on here could get the FG's now to tell us if and how much better they are that the Ba's/BF's so those of us that arent rolling in cash could make a decision on weather to make the costly change to a FG????

28K is a good trade for a BF1 with those K's.. that's what Id expect to get for my BFII trade.

The only place I've had it advertised on is here until 2 weeks ago. I've only had it advertised on carsales, and in the paper for less than 2 weeks and have plenty of interest (particularly from interstate) now. Not sold until someone ponies up the cash obviously though ...

As I said, in almost every search on carsales you'll find one or two cars priced well below the rest of the pack and ring to find out that they want a deposit sent to a bank account in Russia or they "mistyped the price".

Not everything that you see on carsales with a good price is a scam.

These are all BF (or BFII) F6's, all in auto:

PRIVATE

2005 - 45K - $39K

2006 - 26K - $41K

2006 - 41K - $42K

2006 - 45K - $42K

2006 - 5K - $43K (genuine phone numbers, plates displayed (personalised), highly doubtful it is scam)

DEALER

2005 - 27K - $40K

2006 - 40K - $42K

2007 - 23K - $43K (red, maybe an ex-chaser)

2007 - 48K - $44K (red, maybe an ex-chaser)

2006 - 38K - $45K

You would get a NEW F6 (if you can still find one) from a dealer for around $50K, and under $50K for a low klm demo.

XR6T's range from BFII (yes II's), ex-chasers $22K - that is what is killing the market. Most of these have only 50K on them - would you buy a BA with 4sp or BFII with 6spd for the same money, albeit the BFII is an ex-chaser?

Sorry to say, these cars are getting cheaper and cheaper. I honestly thought prices would hold as you would pay mid 60's for a new FG, making second hand BF/BFII for $50K a good buy. I thought this would be the case until FG's started being discounted (say 6 months after release). But I guess I was wrong.

Last week I inquired about 2 Ts on carsales.... I was looking to trade by 4sp BAII for a ZF... both cars were 28 or 29g with 2 or 3 times the kms....

Both dealers got back to me and said "sorry theyre not turbos, there was a mistake putting them online... but we have a BFII T for $37,000"

wouldnt surprise me if more of the cheap BFs on carsales were mistakes and just overpriced NAs

I honestly can't see anything but ex chaser BF2 T's (not phoons - different story - I would actually expect resale on them to be worse because they start off at much higher $$) going in the 20's.

When I was shopping for mine I called a lot of dealers from carsales and all the "holy sh*t that's cheap!" ones were all "sorry misttyped price..... but for 10k more can we interest you in...." or scams. Just my personal experience. I have regular experience with chasers where I work most of my hours, and while they are very well maintained I would not buy one for a variety of reasons (one being they are always run off ULP)

Well, they have also gone to the trouble of putting "Turbo" badges on them too! They also have a cross over pipe and turbo bolted on the side of the exhaust manifold. I'm guessing they have also gone to the trouble of putting an intercooler in too!

I'm not being a smart arse, but the reality is they ARE for sale and they ARE T's.

They are all ex-chasers, but for a young fella looking for an XR6T then at low 20's for a car that is about 18 months old and has around 50-60klms, it is great proposition - ex-chaser or not. It's either that or a BA that has probably been flogged just as much for a lot lot longer.

You paid $35K plus stamps and rego 12 months ago.

It now has 12 more months on it (1 year less warranty), 12,000 more klms and the new model has been released.

You may get lucky, but my bet is you'll be hanging on to this for a little while at that price. Ask anyone on here that has recently SOLD their T (not traded, but actually sold) - you might be quite surprised at some of the timeframes and some of prices received.

When they offered me $28K trade for mine, I jumped. I also got my new Subaru with free onroads (dealer delivery, rego, stamps, etc, etc). Subaru aren't known for offering big discounts, so the trade in price seemed good to me. Just to make sure I wasn't getting jacked on the price of the new Subaru (ie, paying too much for the Subaru and them offering an "inflated" trade on the Falcon), I rang 2 other Subaru dealers and said I was a cash buyer with no trade looking for a new Subaru and told them the price I was paying for the new car - both dealers said they couldn't do any better and they would be around the same money.

You don't buy one of these babies to make money on them. Seeing the FG is a next generation car, the BAs and BFs can only go one way whether they are Phoons, R Specs, or whatever, all your gonna do is tear money. But they are still a lot of fun.
