I've just imported an M35 Stagea (4wd, turbo, leather etc..) which took a long time but had no problems. I'm so impressed with the quality, condition and value, I'm getting a V35 Skyline for my wife.

I used an import broker ($1000 fee up front) to guide me through the process and thought I'd do that and learn the ropes then do it myself. I've changed my mind - good import brokers know the auctions, know the cars, know the RAWS workshops and freight / customs issues back to front. If a glitch occurs, they also know what to do. Its money well spent and I wouldn't bother trying to do it myself. And I usually try to do everything myself!

Both j-spec and prestige Motorsport have been around for a long time, have good reputations as import brokers and I can recommend both of them from my dealings so far.

I wish my XR6T had Japanese build quality......

Mate I looked into it before I got the T, buy the time you factor in all the costs it's just as easy and probably a better idea to buy one already here. There are sh*t loads around and some bargain GTR's out there you just got to take the time to hunt them down.

On that note - if you go on the skylines forum, there are heaps of high power well modded cars from GTR's to Evo's to all sorts...

A lot of people have forked out for expensive parts and rebuilds with quality components only to find out that they cant afford the debt, are looking to get into property, dont drive the cars or whatever... You can find a well modded, rebuilt 350awkw 32 GTR on the east coast for as little as $22 - $23 K. For a little more, you can find them with more power etc.

Advantages of this is that you can view, drive the car before you buy & you know who the performance work was done by... I would advise you to have a good look, GTR owners just cant sell cars at the moment and its definately a buyers market.

If your still not happy, then you can look at importing so you have options on your side.

Let us know how you go too!!

if ya got the money do it. but I seen a sh*t load of second hand skylines etc etc at work even the new gtr skyline. some of them dont even make it out the gate n get all copped up to scrap metal cos they dont pass the quaratine test. just easier to buy one already done..... I think.
