Wellcome to this site RUDIGER, enjoyed your cop car history and personal expiriences.tell me something,my daughter has decided to bang a "cops are tops" sticker on the boot ,just above the turbo badge,do police officers go abit easyer on such equiped cars ? lol :3gears:

If it was me I may quiz her about it. Really depends on what she had done to make me pull her over. I was a bit of an arse in that if they made me get out of the var to pull them up, then they were in the book, but I mellowed towards the end, that (and other reasons) is why I left.

But I had a "get of jail free" phrase that no one EVER said.

That was, "What can I say, you've got me."

It comes from a training video that was so cheezy I just figured if anyone ever said that, didnt matter what they had done, I'd let them go.

So as far as your daiughters sticker is concerned, she may get chatted up, but the chance of a let off is little.

Try the blue ribbon on the antenna maybe???

The police tune does exist. The XR8's and XR6T's in NSW had the Ecu recalibrated once picked up and kitted out by NSW Police.

The amount of electronics would murder deep cell batteries. Even with capacitors they still chewed batteries causing engine stalls at speed.

The ECU upgrade adjusted the factory idle to move up rear 1000rpm to assist in alternator battery charge.

I heard there was also a performance tune. If flashed the km (total) display will change on the speedo. Been out of the game a coupld of years and just can't remeber now.

It does exist it just isn't publicised.

Ford had to do alot to buy business back with NSW Police in 04.

The BFII T I'm picking up today (detail team willing) is allegedly an ex police booze bus tow car. The bloke who sold it to me mentioned he drove it back from the auction and it was "a bit more powerful than the rest" which I laughed at inside and chalked up to him trying to complete the sale...

...but I have seen a thread around on one of the forums about driving cars hardish to break them in, which gives much better piston ring sealing...it had a link to a site with pics of both break in styles and the hard driven ones were shiny as, the babied pistons were pretty dirty down the sides in comparison.

All I know is that I'm stoked I finally am getting one :D And with 2 more years new car warranty!

my car was an ex-demo, 8,000kms...

When I picked it up, my mate had picked his up from another dealer, as a second-handy 1 female owner thingy.

Not only was mine louder, and faster, but had little white flecks coming out of the exhaust(presumably cat?)

So, im all for the "thrash the f*ck outta it as soon as you get your hands on it"

congrats, I picked myself up a brand new september 07 plate vehicle a few months ago while working at a dealership. Still had the premium sound and climate control, but I dont have the dark accents on the bodykit. You'll love the new wheels, I have put 5000kms on mine and still love getting into it each time!
