Let the mods begin!

Apparantly they already have, thanks to the dealer. We just wish to know what mod?

Hi Guys. Seems this site is alot more alive than I had thought which is great.

Ok, the build date is November 2007 so its arguable about being one of the last but it would have to be up there. With only 8k on the clock its lower than what I got my old one which had 17k.

What the dealer has done for the extra 5 is this. They service the local Police Traffic BF Turbo which apparently is tricked to by 5Kw. Now being an ex Police Highway man myself I dont find this hard to beleive. The policy on mods with VicPol cars has changed significantly over the past 10 years and an ECO mod is certainly possible.

Anyway, when they serviced the Police BF they downloaded the ECU and kept the details and had applied it to one in the yard and they said they would do it to mine if I wanted.

Now, before you go saying its a crock ect ect, it may well be. But given that I know so little about mods to these things as yet, and will be looking to hopefully trick it a bit, I really don't know what way is up. It certainly wasn't a selling point so I havent paid anything extra. I do know that the one I test drove did seem to go well but I don't really think you could feel an extra 5kw.

Anyway, I hope that answers your questions. It'll probably cause heaps more.

Anyway, I am looking forward to learning the mods I can make without breaking the bank (Which I'm already doing)

Cheers all.

Oh sorry. Why didnt I go FG??

Honestly, Im not into them at all. Nice car but I prefer the BA/BF. I think its more "robust". The new ones look a bit more luxury than muscle.

But I'm just being honest.

You're probably right but I had bought it by then anyhow.

Heres a pic. I'm not keen on the grey bits, but they are growing on me.

My BF XR6T was built March '08. I'm told it was the last.

That's incorrect.

I've worked around plenty of Ford Police cars and the tune is no different.

Mine says Feb 08 on the ID sticker. Makes me maybe "second last". Almost certainly the second last in silk :crybaby:

All going well right now too - just over 5K on the odo now and it's loosening up noticeably - and the fuel economy is sitting around 15 in the city which is a massive improvement on 20+ which is where it was for the fist 2 weeks :roflmbo:

I wouldnt be surprised if the Police tickle with the ECU... How do you explain turning the dynos with a little extra power (the ex coppers)..

Many years ago, I had a ex police car commodore.. I wanted a memcal upgrade and advised the tuner of the current code. they said it was a Police chip... they said it had different setting than standard but they also said the different settings would not equate to more power??? what would they equate to then?
