Love the F-22 it has to be one of my fav! The F-35 is also an amazing aircraft however if the RAAF puts an order in, it will be for the conventional takeoff/landing (So I was told) not the SVTOL type.

But then again we are getting the new amphibious landing class ships for the navy ... will the F-35 SVTOL varient make a role in the future?

Can the F-35 drycruise at supersonic speeds without afterburner? I understand the 22 can.

Rob... whoo hooo an aviation thread goo danny!!!

Trust with A/B - 35,000 lb EACH ENGINE

Trust with A/B - 35,000-40,000 lb

I like the fact that the F22 has almost twice the "HorsePower" than the F35, which in itself is the most powerful single engine aircraft in itself.

As for supercruise capability. that's still classified information.

Well, as I said eariler, the BF01 STOVL is due for first flight... and it did just that a couple of days ago!

Although the picture may look like its photoshopped because the landing gear is down.. LOL

I assure you its not. They always fly with landing gear in locked position on their first flights for any possible emergencies.
