Have heard that there is a problem with the Turbo bearings & the steering rack on the new model. Can anyone in the know verify this & what Fraud are doing about it ? Rumour has it that this is why there is no Turbo demonstrators at the moment at Dealers.

I believe this is another old wives tail, the Press Cars haven't had any issues and they have been absolutely thrashed. The steering racks are the same across the whole range so I can't see an issue there, nothing else is effected. The turbos are only different in the compressor housing and wheel, so there shouldn't be any problems there either...

If there is no problem with the rack, why is it that on just about every Road Test on all models, they are getting rack rattle on bumpy cornering & are saying Fraud are looking for a solution ?

ever driven a BA while loading up the suspension on a rough corner? that will give you the definition of rack rattle! I have done over 500kms in these cars, XT, XR6, XR6T and G series and there is no problem outside trying to find problems. If it was an issue wheels magazine would've said it was an issue rather than that being the only small niggle in the otherwise brilliant steering...

I drove a XR6T 6sp man Press car last week and it rocked, steering had more feel, car felt more balanced, the 6 spd was much eaiser to shift and felt alot stronger than my t56, and the clutch was suprisingly light compared to mine. launch control is gold. im interested to see what the real figures are for 0-100 and 0-400m as this car felt fast..I didn't really get to hammer it but from what I did do it was pretty impressive... I'm excited to think what this car would be capable of once the tuners get thier hands on it. : )

A few early build cars had a misplaced clip on the end of the steering rack, which caused the steering to go a bit hard on tight turns. All cars were fixed before they were delivered so none reached the customer, only the companies demos but they were fixed when the problem was revealed.

Turbos are now in production.
