Lol, I'll see you on Thursday mate. My cars also going to be there on the day not to get some work done to the box, but for other minor work.

I did have a chat with Simon face to face last week and they do build their boxes with genuine parts rather than non gen parts as some other workshops do and as some of the members have stated in this thread. Although Bayswater sound promising, id definately choose Nizpro when it comes to getting some work done whether tits Strengthening the Auto, Tuning my car or any other mechanical related work.

cheers,

San.

Not only that Mike, they also use the right bands which are supposed to be used in the first place unlike some workshops that claim they use such and such bands but it turns out to be something different as some of the members have experienced.

Nevertheless, throughout my time on this forum, I have never heard anything bad about Nizpro which goes to prove how highly they are respected in ALL departments!

Am I glad I have the right workshop looking after my car!!

my 2 cents........

San.

They sure have a good reputation, but theres nothing out there that seems to offer any answers for these 4 speeds.

I have heard of a shop here in Canberra that has broken 2 nizpro built boxes.

Lets face it, these gearboxes are great for cabs and not much else! if your running over 300rwkw, its better off budgeting in to you yearly running expenses a rebuilt gearbox and looking at it like changing a fuel filter.

these boxs arnt that bad I was running over 300 rwkw on a dead stock box with no trans cooler for over a year, it even had a sh*t load of work at the drags, so there pretty good I reackon.

And every single shop has has blown boxs.... like every one said it comes down to the tune and the driver as to how long it will last.

Another plug for Tim Bayswater Auto's, they freshened up my box over 6 months ago, shifts beutifully, in manual mode its very quick - firm quick shift like a click of the fingers.

I had high energy bands, serrated BF spec clutchpack (3rd gear) some internal seals replaced to improve 3rd gear clamping force, cryo treated AU planetaries and a full look over - inspection on all other parts. flush and service

They charged me less than the agreed quoted price, (well under a grand) and gave me back my original planetaries as they were in perfect condition.

Honest reliable guys, hard to find better service and expertise than that!

sounds like a good deal there! ill be lookin at bayswater autos when I get my auto done which my guess is it will be soon especially after this saturday. :beerchug:

So u spent under a grand and u got all that done? good effort I say!

You will never build these to last. The clutches etc just aren't big enough to handle the torque.

Rebuilds are just something you've got to accept with the 4 speed.

Spoke to Dominello's about rebuilding my 4 speed and told him I should make around 400rwkw with my new engine. He said should be no problems and he offers a warranty on his box for 12 months.

He quoted me $4500 with a new 3000 rpm converter, he done my mates box and it has been going for about 8 months now, and driven like a wrx stolen by some 16 year olds and still no problems.

People say $4500 is dear but not if it is only done once.

Doesn't matter if they charge $10k. You're kidding yourself if you think it will only need doing once.
