Pushback In Your Seat Factor

Hey everyone,

I'm new to the site and am considering buying an XR6T. I took a BF manual for a test drive the other day but it didn't give me the "pushback feeling" I was expecting. My Brother has an EVO VIII MR and after driving that, not only is it fast it feels fast. If I were to get one I was reading about the Capa flash tuner available for it, my question is, if I get that and get the car tuned by a pro to 8-10 psi (from reading this is what stocko gets tuned to with the capa unit) will it have that "pushback feeling"?

For those of you with a stock XR6T who only have the capa and tuned can you tell me what difference you feel in how it responds. How much faster will it be 0-100 for example?

Thanks so much in advance for your help, I really need help on deciding what car to get.

If I drive my Accord Euro for a day, then get in my F6, I get the pushback feeling, but after 10 minutes I get used to it.

If you were to tune it up to around 250rwkw, it should give you that feeling every time...

Get an XR6t, or even an F6 if finance allows. You'll never look back! :spoton:

MVP I think you'll find that the standard XR6T doesn't really have that "pushback" feeling that an Evo has mainly due the 4.0L six having quite a bit of torque in standard n/a format and the power coming on at a linear effect. I think you should really base the quickness of a car by it's quarter mile and roll on times between speeds. This will give a clearer indication as to how fast a car really is rather than the "pushback" feeling you get in cars where the boost comes on alot harder.

I'm sure once you start uping the boost and torque in the XR then you can definately achieve that push back feeling depending on how it's tuned.

Just my thought.

Benny.

Driving the stock xr6t gave me a pretty good pushback feeling the first time I drove one, but soon got used to it.

Doing the tune to the car (10psi or higher), will easily give the car twice the pushback it had standard and its like a totally different car mate, trust me. Go for a ride in someones modded xr6t and you'll find it definitely gives you a nice pushback into your seat :)

On a rolling, say at 60kph if I just floor it and it drops back 2 or so gears it honestly pushes you back so hard its crazy.. and I've only got crap power compared to most of the people here haha

It needs a tune to feel it. Standard they are pretty linear, but once boost map is modified so boost hits a little harder you'll get what you're after.

I especially feel it when someone else drives for some reason, I can still feel the "pushback" when Con from C&V took me for a drive after tuning the car. And the it only hits 9psi before steadily dropping back to 6 due to injectors maxing out.

That is very true. Driving it yourself you dont feel the kick as much as when you are passenger.

that's probably why I think the cars slow now, yet passengers always walk out with a big smile on their face hehe

Cheers for the quick responses :). I have not been in an F6 yet, was looking around for one to test drive but hard to find a manual around... Insurance is more for an F6 though :(... I have taken a few cars for test drives but there's something that I like about the XR6T. Hopefully I can find out what an F6 is like before I make up my mind.

Oh and Benny, yeah you are right about what you are saying. The VIII MR runs high 12's, so that's what I meant when I said it was fast. I just really like the pushback feeling when driving, it is very soothing to me and so I'm after that in my next car.

You could get the tune to limit boost to only few PSI down low and then have it hit hard all at once. It would be VEEEEERY fun and brake traction every time but not very drivable.
