Having very recently purchased a 2005 XR6 Turbo with 46,000k's on the clock and never owning one before, some information would be appriciated if possible.

1: What is the best oil filter to use

2: What are general thoughts on the Fram Racing HP1 filter

3: Would full synthetic oil be recommended at these KM's

I have had a few mods done and is producing around

300 rwkw.

Any other helpful info would also be greatly appriciated.

Thanks in advance.

Full Synthetic oil is your best bet, castrol, royal purple, Nulon, Penrite, mobil just keep it within ford weight ranges, and the Trusty Ryco Z9, will do the trick ....its being good to me for 20+ years, just change with every oil change.

If you are going to use a Ryco filter make sure you buy it from a reputable source.

There are plenty of horror stories of fake Ryco filter splitting open.

Personally, I stick with the genuine filters.

Just on the topic of Z9 filters, doesnt the BF take a different filter to the BA?

I am pretty sure that after 30 odd years using the same filter, Ford changed it just before phasing the old inline 6 out!

Nope. I put the AFL-1 (Ryco Z9) and AFL-101 side by side and they're different size and different thread. Not interchangeable in any way.

Dunno why they changed it just before ending a 40 year tradition of having the same filter.....
