Anti-lag basically makes the turbo spin all the time, it generates alot of heat and shortens turbo life greatly. It's similar to the new launch control, but runs on all cylinders and is completely insane on anything but a full-on track car!

Wouldn't a stall converter work the same and just launch on boost.

ZAP No boost, no bottle, just my foot on the throttle! Lifetime Members 7,935 Member For: 20y 10m 7d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 21/05/08 02:50 AM Share Posted 21/05/08 02:50 AM Antilag injects fuel on the exhaust stroke creating combustion in the exhaust, thus spinning up the turbo to a possitive boost pressure.A Pat mentioned it will kill manafolds and turbos much quicker than without it.You can get this feature on Motec, Haltec and a few other aftermarket ECUs. I guess it is not popular in our cars due to traction and Torque.

Many people have had years of life out of their turbo running it... the trick is not to sit on it for too long. 2 seconds is all you need, like the supra in the video at the start of this thread.... pop pop pop, GOOOOOOONE!the issue has been with programming it into the tune on our XR`s, its difficult if not impossible without some 'help'... Also being able to flatshift consistantly without loosing boost between shifts - notwithstanding being a freak driver like F6 UTE...
