Guest Banun Guests Posted 24/03/03 05:55 AM Share Posted 24/03/03 05:55 AM An update on the recent topic of cleaning. After receiving good humoured ribbing even from my dealer about the number of times I wash my car I claim a little knowledge on the subject. On first taking delivery I went to Kmart and bought a number of Meguiars goodies of which I love the lambswool mit and I like the Chamois. The Gold car wash is in my opinion, just, ok.I really like the effect that Shell Wash & Wax 2 in 1 gives. Price is not the issue, although it being only about $8 per litre is a bonus, but it gives my car a gleam I consider much better than the Meguiars. The car really looks a treat after using this product...try it and see what you think...tyres, and the keeping of them black...I am yet to find a winner

I put a big "do not wash me" sign on my car every time it goes to the dealer. that way they dont scratch the crap out of it!

Be very careful how you use it and where you put it on your tyres. There is a tyre black in a spray can that is very good - sorry, can't think of it's name but it goes on almost clear then shines your sidewalls right up - probably a can of silicon heheheh. PS any overspray doesn't harm mags.

Posted 24/03/03 12:34 PM Share Posted 24/03/03 12:34 PM Well Banun I must admit you did'nt find Maguires that good surprised me . I used their products exclusively on my EL XR6 (Navy Blue) and (without tooting my own flute) it looked just as good when I sold it, Dec 02, than the day I took delivery of it, May 98. Yeah, Maguires is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Their 'Endurance' tyre protector is really good. If you have any colour other than white or red then the 'Gold Class Clear Coat Prep' is great followed by 'Gold Class Clear Coat Liquid wax'. For best results use cut up towels for taking wax off  . For getting bugs, tar and stubborn road grime off their paint cleaner is good (with a bit of elbow grease, no scratching but). The 'No Smear' window cleaner is the best for tinted windows. No I'm not a rep, actually work in a Power Station, but am fanatical about my 'rides'. I pick my 'T' up on Thursday (finally!!!) :D and the first thing I'll be doing is hitting it with the Maguires, inside and out. Then cruisin the streets of Mandurah!!!!!!!!!! And yeah I also put a sign on my car when they service it ' DO NOT CLEAN!And to those plebs who ragged ya.....stuff em :D

Guest UNR8D Guests Posted 25/03/03 07:09 AM Share Posted 25/03/03 07:09 AM I have used meguires products on my Monza Red EB2 and my folks AU SR (narooma blue) and I have always been impressed with their products, one other is the wax as u wipe from eagle one BEAUTIFUL if you use Canubia Wax every 6 months this stuff works a treat in between and keeps a gleam and smoothness to the surface, I park outdoors alot but have a garage at home and I would consider my paint work in VGC concidering age and the ammout of K's I do out west etc. bloddy stone chips:( :nugget: UNR8D

Be very careful how you use it and where you put it on your tyres.I have been using sylicone based tyres shine for years and have never had an excursion into the scenery, as you put it. It is from a spray can and I don't think you could ever put that much on so that the car would slide around! Motor bike tyre side walls are a different story! Never spray them.I had always used the PYROIL tyre shine and then one day grabbed a spray can of their sylicone spray by accident. Gave it a try and it works heaps better and lasts longer! Almost all tyre shines are sylicone based anyway!Has anybody figured out a way to stop the chrome exhaust tip from discolouring after being driven? I'm getting sick of cleaning it with steel wool every weekend I wash the car!
