Okay I will post up a new thread soon for the Alpine Cruise. I've sussed the route out and couldnt believe how much a sleeper of a route this is because it used to be a dirt road between Falls Creek and the road leading into Omeo. Prolly cos the joining section was only completed in July 2009

(yep that new :roflmbo: )

So dates am proposing will be Sat 26 and Sun 27 Mar 2011 mainly because there's a lot of other Autumn based things happening in the region like bike rides and I'm trying to avoid them. So, I've placed a tentative booking with a motel in Omeo that's next door to a pub.

so Gary when do you think the cruise details will be up? I'm only asking because the Snowy's thread was up months before the cruise and took a while to get everyone going.

You can count me in for sure! is there any possibility of it going longer than the sat/sun?

Yeah mate I thought about making it longer but I figure it's easiest for most if we just make it a weekend. But not stopping anyone wanting to take in Mt Buller on the way home on Monday for example. The trip home on Sunday takes us on the Targa High Country route to Mansfield. We won't have time to take in Mt Buller on Sunday but it could be done if Monday was taken off work. But at this stage, that will be a personal choice. I'll be planning on just Falls Creek, Mt Hotham and High Country Targa Route for Sat and Sun for the cruise.

What time do you plan to get into Mansfield?

The run up Mt Buller doesn't take all that long.

It can be done. I mean I did Falls Creek Mt Hotham then home to Melbourne via High Country Targa route in one day but I was buggered by the end and didn't get home till 9pm. If we did Mt Hotham Targa and Mt Buller on Sunday it can be done but would also be a long day. I can make it a choice at Mansfield so those that need to get home earlier can do so. So I'll build that into the cruise.

I've driven from Mansfield and its a bugger. Given I'd just spent 2 days up there working.

Granted Gary you were on your own and it does get boring but with 6 or more cars in convoy it easy to over estimate how quick, even a 6 hour drive cant take.

But it would be nice to have the option to maybe stay at Mansfield on the Sunday night and drive home Monday.

Do you think there would be any interest in doing a shine and show somewhere in Melbourne to show off some of the mods done to cars. I know there is Kwanis but that's a whole lot of different Fords. Was just thinking XRs. There's a park near Yarra river I see BMW and Porsche doing that on weekends gone by recently. No prizes or judgings - just perving :roflmbo: Anyone know of suitable venues and if interested? :beerchug:
