Hi Guys, Girls, Hunks & Babes...

Im planning on going to Port Douglas in July & I have a couple of questions:

1) What will the weather be like?

2) Best places to eat / drink & night life?

3) Best snorkling day cruise company?

Thanks for your replies its always best to get some local knowledge.

Regards

Hey TUF, know more about Cairns but.....

1. Weather will be terrific during the day. Warm but nights can be cool so bring a light jacket. Won't be cold like south though

2. Nautilus Restaurant has a good reputation in Port. If you can make it to Cairns (gee, only an hour's drive), try the Tamarind at the Casino or the Ochre. Real nice places!

3. Most of the big companies are good for snorkelling like Quicksilver, Great Adventures etc with the big pontoons, semi-sub, lunch etc. If you don't want all that, there is a company that does a quick trip out in a smaller fast boat and does snorkelling only. It's cheaper too. Depends what you want. Can't remember the name but you'll find it easy enough when you're there.

Just remember too. The road from Cairns to Port Douglas is one of the most scenic drives in Oz. You'll like it. Have a great hol' !! :shakefist:

hafadude,

Thanks heaps for your reply, Im going to try & spend the day in Cairns on my way back.

Im sure the weather will be great as its bl00dy freezing in Melbourne during July normally not getting higher than 15-20.

I would prefer to just do snorkling so I will try to find the smaller companies, if any of the names come back to you let me know.

Also what are the best web sites for tourism in the area??

Again thanks heaps for your reply. :idunno:

heya bro, PM me when you get closer to here and ill give ya the run down... Dont worry about getting to the reef, there are sh*tloads of operators going out everyday.

Id probably recommend, HABA or POSIEDON.

We can go for a cruise up the coast road too from cairns, nice road.

There is also some other stuff id reccommend seeing while your here, again PM me and let me know how much time you have etc...

I got married up there 5 yrs ago, had a blast of a time ,

You gotta go to the "ironbar" pub they have cane toad racing.... great time

Can't remeber the snorkling company we used but was a small company, the quicksilver is a bigggg setup,

go to the On The Inlet Seafood Restaurant..... bucket of prawns and beer for $16.00, also they feed a monster groper which comes right up to you

Head south to Palm Cove.... one of the most relaxing/beautiful places in Aus

I have heard of feeding the Big Groper (other than Dags) but didnt know it was in Port Douglas so I will definetly go there.

Cane Toad racing sounds interesting.
