I wouldnt be saying phew to that..... If your cars auto, you may have now wound up with an Auto full of water and an engine/cooling system full of auto trans fluid...... that's bad new......

Otherwise you may have a blown head gasket?

Did they advise that you do not drive the vehicle until it's fixed :spoton:

Like Hanra said - might be a common issue but it's nothing to feel relieved about!

Hi Guys,

Went for an oil change today and the guys found oil in the water coolant... Obviously not good news.

Will be taking to Ford on Monday.

Question is - has anybody else with an F6 (or XR6 Turbo) had this problem?

Regards,

Luke

Hi there, I just purchased an XR6 turbo and had dealt with this problem yesterday. The issue is that there is a transmission cooler located in the standard radiator. This internal transmission cooler blows and releases transmission fluid into your radiator. This needs to be replaced ASAP. You need to get a new radiator fitted - preferably with a stainless steel transmission cooler. The gearbox needs as much cooling as possible so it's best to leave this and the external one if fitted. You will also need to change top and bottom radiator hoses (as they have had oil through them)and get the gear box serviced ASAP and flushed with new transmission fluid added.

I had the same issue as hectic dude had,my problem was the external engine oil cooler had a small crack in the pipe as it is also watercooled, would suck the oil into the coolant tank.replaced oil cooler all sweet now!

This was only a problem with BAs with 4 speed auto. The car in his picture is a BA Typhoon and they only came out as a manual.
