Xenon Blue lights are BS - they are no better than a good quality Philips QH globe. In fact the performance of your standard headlights will be lower with the Xenon blue - they are NOT Xenon at all, just a BS branding name to cash in on the true Xenon lighting system which costs about $1,000 per light if you want to go into it.

But if the ricers are happy with their pretty blue looking lights .... oh well, to each his own.

well they worked for me and most of the people who run Group N rally cars use em as well. I have used them in all three of my last cars and they are better than standard and that inlcluded BMW headlamps which are better than most.

cheers

Mondie> Unless some huge improvement in design or function has been achieved in the last six months they actually put out LESS light (by about 10-15%) than standard QH globes. But because they look "blue" ppl "think" they are brighter. Blue light is actually harder on the eyes over extended periods and leads to eye fatigue. Yellow light is the best for long term night driving in all conditions including rain etc. This is why they are used throughout Europe and are the standard in many European countries. However yellow light is also about 15% less "bright" than standard QH globes. "Blue" lights are also much more irritating to oncoming drivers - surely those of you who have used them would know this - do you simply have no consideration or manners towards other road users?

They are white lights and do not look blue only the actual tip of the globe has a blue coating. The company phillips who also designed the globes in the xr6 turbo, rate these at 8% brighter. So i think you may be refering to some other sort of globe. Even a quick phone call tonight to a friend at FOMOCO proves that these are a better globe and were not included in the overall cost of the xr6 turbo due to pricing.. Most new BMW's, Lexus's and Mercs use the same "White Light" Globes. A friend of mine who drives a SL55 AMG has the same globes in his car, exactly the same. (as i pulled apart his front headlight to have a look) Yes I know its a $300,000 car but still :)

Please dont talk about manners, or the like when you we are talking about two different products. The globes are not the "ricer" blue or purple you are thinking about.

Found this as well talking about "white light" globes while searching the net.

Various studies have shown that whiter light not only stimulates concentration, but also reflects better from road surfaces and street signs

This taken from the philips website

What makes BlueVision bulbs blue?

The coating. BlueVision bulbs are halogen bulbs with a blue coating. It brings you the benefits of the brilliant white light, that stimulates driver concentration and makes night time driving less tiring. It also reflects much better on road markings and street signs and thus contributes to greater road safety and driver comfort

Just becareful, I bought a set for my 2002 Integra Type R cause we had put them in our CRV and if you put the 110/100w's they can melt your wires and your plastic covers for your lights as WE found out... Not happy jan. It happened on a return trip from QLD and the Integra now has original lights in there..
