It is not just the straight line performance, but also the around corner stuff to. It is not like just traction control, you guys need to drive it in the skid pan to experiance it.

hey guys,

Im not sure wether its been touched on or not but the term "launch control" I think is giving some people the wrong idea. Lauch control will hold the revs at 3500rpm to let you get almost full boost of the line. But once you release that clutch the ball is in your court with throttle control. I have been told launch control is on wether Electronic stabilty program is on or off. It engages when you put the clutch fully in with full throttle for a curtain amount of time. Its not a instantaneous thing. Probably a 1 second delay, so leaving nice lines on the road is still possible.

I have been told and also admitably did read in a magazine that launch control is faster with ESP OFF, but you need to ease the clutch out to avoid bad axel tramp and to avoid massive wheelspin. With ESP on you can dump the clutch and let the computer sort out the traction problems but will still slow your launch down.

From the video shown, I think he has ESP off because the 1st and 2nd launch are completly different. The first video he has alot more wheel spin from the launch, showing driver error....

'Launch Control' is obtained by retarding the timing to a point where the combustion happens in the exhaust manifold, not the chamber.

Unichip can do this for you.

The bad thing about this is heat, in the wrong place...... I don't know how may 'launches' Ford did with this setup, but the stress and heat caused on the turbine shaft is such that snapped shafts are common place.

I think Ford will do a backflip on the launch control when the warranty claims come flooding in.

I've used it on cars previously... turbo lifespan = zero.. bap bap bap bang.. smoke.............

It actually deactivates two cylinders and just pumps cool air throught the turbo to keep the heat issue down. If they thought it was gonna crap out turbos early, they would've put a warranty stipulation like the BMW's have with launch control - use it more than 10 times and your warranty is void - ford haven't done this
