Posted 11/05/08 02:48 AM Share Posted 11/05/08 02:48 AM I'm going to go get a spot-on tax accountant and minimize every cent to these cretins,I don't object to paying a fair tax rate but this is getting beyond a joke.as Packer once said when questioned:"Of course I'm minimizing my taxes! And the way you b@stards waste the money, I'd encourage every Australian to do the same thing."

The tax rise will also impact on locally produced vehicles such as the Expensive Daewoo Caprice, Expensive Daewoo Statesman, Ford's Falcon G6E and the Territory Ghia.News Ltd reports that the tax will apply to the GST-exclusive value of cars that cost more than $57,123.Mr Swan said people on six figure salaries were "doing pretty well in Australia"."It's abundantly clear that there are some people who are receiving government benefits who are on very, very high incomes, who don't need them," Mr Swan told News Ltd."And we ought to have a discussion in Australia about whether we can continue to afford that."-------------------------------I cant believe the quote:Mr Swan said people on six figure salaries were "doing pretty well in Australia"."It's abundantly clear that there are some people who are receiving government benefits who are on very, very high incomes, who don't need them," Mr Swan told News Ltd.Well makes me wish I had of moved to Dubai when my brother was there a few years ago... This is a complete joke and yet again a step backwards to the old way Australia was...Increase imported vehicle tax would have been the smart thing... However here we have two (tax on alcohol) 'band aid' let do this - type attempts to show the Rudd Gov is doing something... Pity they have no idea what it actually is...Really rethinking the move OS for a few years with this sort of crap!Good job Rudd... Guest Guests Posted 11/05/08 06:15 AM Share Posted 11/05/08 06:15 AM you don't get much for $57K - not even a basic Landcruiser, Not even a BMW 135, No G6ET or whatever it is, certainly no F6.I'm not completely against the tax - it just kicks in too soon for my book

Falcon & Crappydore to stay under that price otherwise they just wont sell.I would think that the majority of falcon drivers should welcome this increase as it forces the car companies to offer more for less.RegardsTUFXRT6
Venom XR6 Member 1,460 Member For: 21y 10m 7d Location: Geelong Victoria Posted 11/05/08 10:11 AM Share Posted 11/05/08 10:11 AM There are quite a few Ford and Expensive Daewoo vehicles that you already have to pay LCT on, so what the difference, you might have to pay a few hundred more. Doubt wether that will stop people buying them, but in my opinion the LCT tax should start higher, maybe 75 k, because true luxury vehicles don't sell down in the 50's, they are more 70 k and over. Why do they mention the Territory Ghia and G6E, they are both cheaper than 57k, the G6E is only 46, even the G6E Turbo is only 55k. As since when is the Tarago made locally. WTF.
