Well, I had my first ever dyno reading today (At Brisbane turbo), that was an experience, seeing all the clamps and chains going on made we wonder what on earth could happen here?

That got the nerves going, then the guy noticed that the rear tyres were a bit low and asked myself and my mate to sit on the tailgate while he took the reading. Wow that was an experience and a half!! All sorts of thoughts and scenarios ran through my head.

As he wound it up the tyres started to slip a bit and is stepped out a little before settling down, then came the queer feeling of sitting on the back with the engine going flat bikky and not going anywhere, then came the smoke which really freaked me out. The exhaust got hot and began to burn the paint off, as soon as John (the dyno guy) told me that my heart rate dropped by 50%.

Anyway, it was a great experience and a great result was achieved, even gave John a surprise.

If you have not had a dyno reading, go do it!! It's worth the few pennies it costs.

Stepped out a little on the rollers when the car makes 236rwkw?

Did they strap it down properly?

Ive witnessed plenty of cars making over 550rwkw, and they sure dont "step out"!!!!

To answer comments/Questions

1. Why on Earth did you not post the read out? - I'm at work and don't have a scanner. Hopefully I can do it tonight for you.

2. Didn't they have an air compressor? And what paint was it burning off? - don't know and the paint was from the exhaust. The dude who installed it painted it black.

- Perhaps step out was the wrong term. It moved sideways a bit on the dyno rollers, that is a little scay when you are sitting on the car. It had 2 big clamps on the front and a big chain on the back so I guess it was strapped down properly. My tyres are well worn, just below wear line, getting new tyres on Monday.

4. Bit of advice, 'Do not stand in front of the car'..... - Sounds like there is a story behind this comment. Care to share?

cars have been known to hop off the rollers and if you are in front of them you get run down. a youtube search should come up with some results for hopping off the rollers

I have had my car come off the dyno. Meh sh*t happens and glad the operator was quick enough to control it before any damage happened. Yeah no one was standing in front. Common sense really, unless the workshop has insurance. Might get a few weeks off work and a payout :buttrock:
