Tuff!? All it says to me is "muzza on board"!!

Actually that's an idea - forget about the tail lights and get a yellow sign which says that. That way, everybody gets the message you're trying to send without needing to spend any money!

Give me a sleeper any day: who cares if it looks tough, it's better to GO tough.

It's about being different and not looking the same as every other blueprint on the road and not conforming to the perceived opinion of the general public of what a car SHOULD look like. I always admire people that take a chance and try something different and I'm sure alot of members feel the same way. Granted go is important too but who wants to drive around in a quick car that looks like a piece of sh*t.

I've done a few different cars over the years. The key to doing it without getting caught is to make sure you can still see the lens colours clearly.

Nightshade is a tinted lacquer so it should be sprayed on a warm day, onto a warm surface (otherwise you get a dull, milky finish).

Alternitavely you can sit the can and lens under a light inside for a while (don't use a 5 million watt tennis court light 5mm off the items so you melt them).

Mask off the spots you don't want to tint and apply two or three very light coats, letting them properly cure (they will darken as they dry).

Check the colour on the car as they always look darker on the car than off. It's very easy to think it looks too light when tinting, then you'll end up making them too dark.

Once you have the right colour, rub them back with Brasso to smooth them over and shine them up a bit. Do one final colour check on the car, then hit them with several coats of high gloss clear enamel. This'll bring them back up to a shiny factory looking job.

Now the pic above makes it look like a gangsters car driving the streets of L.A. about to do a driveby.

People that don't want the attention of the police. :-)

Anyway I don't think you could accuse a stock BA/BF turbo as looking like a piece of sh*t. It's a thing of beauty, hence why I'm loathe to do stuff like tint the indicators as it takes away from the pure design clarity of the original piece. :P

Yeah that's fair enough, all I'm saying is with so many XR Turbos on the road as well as normal XRs which look exactly the same whats wrong with standing out abit.

And pretty much anything you do to your car now days be it power or looks the cops will hassle you anyway so why bother trying to please them.

Each to there own I guess.

Or you can try something different. I've never seen these on a BA/BF before, must be brand new

funny you should mention those, I was looking at them just last week thinking that's different, wonder what they would look like... might need to do some photochopping and have a look see..

some great replies in regards to this, alot of valid points.

yes they do look a bit choco, but at the same time, every T and XR looks the same, so having them a bit different isnt too bad, as long as you dont go overboard I suppose.

really its each to his own, some people like the idea some people dont... just like the whole spoiler or no spoiler debate...

one of my mates said he has looked into why it is illegal to do this, and apparently the only time it is illegal is if you cannot differ between the different lights ie they are so dark you that people dont know if your reversing, braking or turning etc. or if the lights are not visible at all or poorly visible when in use. its not actually illegal to tint the lights themselves, so by masking the indicators according to this theory it should actually be okay.

this may not be true, but it was what I was told. EXR6T is gonna have a new look over the next few months so im still deciding what to do and what not to do to her.

Get your hands off your collective dicks, save some money and go to the bloody gym, it will help you pick up better than tinted farken tail lights. Farking possers.

Scotty

PS I say that in the nicest possible way.
