In everything there are going to be anomalies. Those stats aren't bad at all. If that's the worst they've dug up over the last 5 years, I think they're doing just fine.

Yeah but don't forget, these are the only ones that have been caught. It's poor taste for one member to book another member, hence these stats represent a much larger problem.

I think you guys missed the point, where many members were let off with a caution. Just how many of us would get a caution for doing 10 - 20 km/h over the posted limit?

I do, however, have more of an issue with large heavy vehicles carrying 50 passengers or more speeding along then highly trained police drivers, in new model performance vehicles.

I.B.

Yeah. I agree with you that Buses and Trucks for that matter are twice as dangerous at the same speed, as a motor vehicle is.

Not really getting the point of this crap....take any other profession and report on the total members of that profession in one state over five years and I'd bet my left nut it would leave these stats for dead. Police officers are human (most of them) and they would undoubtedly f*ck up occasionally.

Don't forget that the days of members letting of their colleges are diminishing, in the day and age of ever-increasing camera enforcement I think the stats are pretty good.

Sure there's no excuse for drink driving, no argument there, but it’s a poorly written article based loosely around rather pathetic statistics that have been blown out of proportion.

Point is that we hear everyday that every accident on the road is due to speed (which it isn't) and that speed is killing everyone (which it isn't) and that 5 km/h over the limit will kill you instantly and turn you into a ball of flame (which it doesn't), yet if the people who enforce the law break it, then it should be okay? Doesn't wash with me.

If there was better attitude to civilians, there would be better attitude back at the police, etc. We're being treated like criminals for chirping a tyre, or driving a few clicks over the limit. Which is ironic, considering that harsher crimes, such as rape and murder get very lenient sentences.

I sort of get your point, but typically:

- Teachers have horrible children

- Dentists get tooth cavities

- Doctors drink & smoke

- Chefs eat takeaway food (know this for a fact :buttrock: )

They are human beings. They are not on-duty 24/7.
