Yes the turbo is a "bitsa" and its developed to do a better job at the power levels Ford require, I think we are going to see Turbo upgrades more with this new car, but in saying that the cars are quite quick in stock form, so with a few tweaks it should be incredibly responsive and quick on the street

Im thinking its a smaller turbo due to it running 10PSI and the ability of it to pull off quicker acceleration times 0 to 100KPH. Though from what I have read the 1/4 mile times are very close to what the current BF is pulling off in standard trim.that's all indicative of a smaller turbo as a smaller turbo will give you more responsive boost down low in the rev range (spools up quicker) and quickly peaks, and the bigger turbo will give more power in the long run which explains why 0 to 100KPH the new XRT is quicker than the BF but 1/4 mile times are very similar...(indicating on the top the larger turbo winds it down)

So in stock form a smaller turbo would give you more useable power and possibly quicker acceleration times rather than a big turbo which would take more time to achieve peak boost.

Mod wise a bigger turbo will provide much bigger power gains which is why I think 270FWK @ 10PSI isnt as impressive as it seems seing as current XRTs are achieving 240 odd RWK with 10PSI and still sticking to current EPA regulations...

In a nutshell the characteristics of the new T tend to indicate a smaller turbo unit in my opinion...

after getting an edit where will the next bottleneck be in the FG?

injectors still?

the next bottleneck is going to be interesting considering the intercooler is now Typhoon size and the intake manifold is more effic as is the turbo plumbing.

wonder if hte stock exhaust is much different to the BA/BF one which wasnt too bad in the first place.

fuel pump?

I think its all to do with efficiency, the BF F6 motor makes 270Fwkw at 9psi, so there isn't much difference on that side of things really. I think everyone agrees that the car is running a smaller turbo, and as ETM said the compressor is smaller

We will see people replacing turbos or at least modding them much sooner in the modding game.

Maybe FG owners (wishing to mod) will start pinching BA-BF Turbos and strapping them on their FG's.

If I go to Woolies and return to my car to see some legs underneath trying to unbolt my turbo Im not gonna be happy... (Ill throw a packet of scotch fingers at them) :crazystuff:

If the checkout line is too long, BA-BF Turbo owners might just be driving home in their now N/A XR6T. BA-BF Owners beware of the FG modders..

Im sure they will pee their pants when they see you pull out the good old Scotch Finger bickies...im suprised the cops havent deemed them as a weapon of deadly force already and banned them!!!

I'll be sure to carry around an extra pack in my glove box as you never know when you might be an unwiling participant in a road rage incident...
