Hi all,

Thinking of buying an FPV steering wheel from ebay for my BFII XR for $500. Is this price reasonable or a ripoff? Does anyone know what they are worth to buy new from Ford, I've heard people say they are worth $900, others say $1600, WTF ? I've seen some people say they got theirs for only $250 on ebay but I cant find a new one on there for less than $500!

Lastly is it even worth buying one to replace the leather wrapped XR steering wheel, how much better is the FPV one in comparison? (Only info I could find searching the forums is about them wearing quickly, something I hadnt considered as my current XR one is still mint after a year!)

So what do you reckon, is this a worthwhile upgrade or a waste of money really?

Appreciate any help as I need to let the guy know by the end of today, the fpv wheel I'm talking about looks like this one minus the logo on the bottom left:

The "sports wheel" is a great option and heaps better than the stock or Momo wheels. They are chunky with a great feel.

You can get them cheaper than $500, but it was a $1100 option in the early days. I think they are now stock on the FPVs.

The only difference between a FPV and a XR sports wheel is a little silver FPV badge, which I do not think comes on the newer ones anyway.

As fof fitment, most dealers will do it for $50, or if you have a clue, you can do it yourself with the right Torx bit.

1)

Disconnect the battery for at least 10 minutes before removing air bag module! The rest is straightforward.

5 hungee is a bit dear, I thought they would have come down by now.

Still worth every cent though :finger:

It just feels wrong getting in something with the standard skinny wheel after you've had a sports/fpv for a while.

Ive got one with the FPV badge, very chunky and feels just right in my hands, my wife loves it too. (no dirty conntotations please).

I believer they are quite expensive from ford (with the FPV badge) but the sports xr wheel is essentially the same.

I upgraded to one of these wheels too. I bought mine off ebay for $500 as well. that's the cheapest I could find. Definately feels soooooo much better than the standard XR wheel.

I tried to get it through ford and I believe you are right with the price now that they are around the $1600 mark. Maybe Pat could verify this for us.

I bought one new from another forum member for $500.

Absolutely love it and I would say that it is a worthwhile upgrade... Feel a lot nicer than the normal wheel.

I suppose its an individual thing on whether they are worth the money - depends what else you can put the money towards!
