When I first got my T driving at 60kmph seemed like I was just rolling, because there was a complete lack of noise compared to my previous car.Off the line they aren't exactly quick, but from 20kmph onwards they are definately moving even stock. As above even taking off normally you leave plenty of others cars off the lights only issue being 1st is a bit tall in the T56 so off the mark I can't just get off the clutch with virtually no throttle on board like previous cars.Comparison XR6 Hits 70+ in first with 6000rpm limitOld Car 60-65kmph at the limiter set at 7000rpm, off the mark feels alot punchier even though its only a 3L NA. The other thing is that you do adapt and get used to it pretty quickly.I still have an email a mate where a mate described it to me as:Is this really a turbo? Geez, is something not working? awww c'mon, whooooeeeeEEEEEEEE, SHEEEIIIIIIIIIIT!. HOLYHELLCHANGEGEARBEFORESOMETHINGBLOWS!!!!![This happens in about 3 seconds].I thought that was pretty good description. Now, I'm thinking mine's a slug all the time...just got used to it.But it's coming on winter with cold air ws Edited 01/05/08 11:31 AM by wiresquire Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/45024-stock-xr6t/page/2/#findComment-668805 Share on other sites

proddy68 Member 29 Member For: 17y 7d Posted 01/05/08 12:54 PM Author Share Posted 01/05/08 12:54 PM geezes I was thinking the same thing! My XR6T is still a stocker and your right, you honestly don't notice the power your getting. But watch that accelerator, it just keeps climbing extremely fast.Does that linear feeling go when the turbo is taken to higher psi levels?that's a good question and something I was wondering also. Wth a tune and higher boost levels does the delivery still feel quite linear or does it become 'angry' when its hits boost? Or just linear and the speedo seems to move a bit faster? Thanks for all the replies, this forum has plenty of good info Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/45024-stock-xr6t/page/2/#findComment-668906 Share on other sites
seventytwo Still have a turbo, it's just on a diesel. You can have a torque monster where boost comes on hard,a more rod friendly flat torque curve or some where in between. Once 3k in 2 and 3rd gear can snap out side ways, I suppose I just have to squeeze the throttle gentley till 3200 than floor it I get better traction that way! hulk xr6t Member 160 Member For: 17y 6m 17d Posted 01/05/08 11:12 PM Share Posted 01/05/08 11:12 PM HEre is a sequence of events for mods and their effects..... Remember these cars are very big, its not easy to make them feel fast like say a WRXStock: Very linear power delivery, gradually built a nice head of steam, no funny noises, I thought,"doesnt feel like a turbo car". Just felt like a N/A 6 but just more power, kept building power gradually, obviously moreso than the N/A. I know what you mean if you are a little underwelmed, but its still quick. I used to have a worked Expensive Daewoo 5.0V8 years ago, sounded tough but didnt feel quick in the car, my mates WRX felt explosive in the car, we ran the same time at WSID. (13.8s)Edit: 236rwkw @8 or 10psi??, start feeling that turbo shove when it comes on boost, you start thinking, this is pretty quick car. Still gradual but can definately notice when it comes on boost. Starts with the chatter noise etc... Excellent result for the money you spend..Edit: Some juicy mods and 276rwkw @ 13psi. Now we are cookin, when its on boost it feels seriously very quick, pins you in the seat. Traction control gets a real workout, gets angry on boost. definately not a linear power delivery now, its like when the boost comes on Dr Jerkyl and Mr Hyde..Edit: more mods 322rwkw @15psi, awesome power, feels fantastic coming on boost, quick car now. Cant tip toe past like a N/A 6. It spools up hard, can hear it winding up, loud chatter sound. Off boost it still feels like a stocker, quiet and civilised.. Off the line gotta build boost to take off hard or else pretty slow takeoff if just tramping the pedal.. Feels just a bit more muscular than the 276rwkw state of tune. I reckon you could give a WRX a head start and wind him in pretty quick..Go and get a custom tune if nothing else. The car will radically transform. My car now feels like that "nothing special car" off boost and gets very angry when it comes on boost. Pins you in the seat. RSK Member 340 Member For: 17y 7m 20d Gender: Male Posted 01/05/08 11:26 PM Share Posted 01/05/08 11:26 PM Ouch, I don't fancy your poor gearbox's chances of surviving for too long being treated like that... I thought the gearboxes were tough? Even if you wack it into performance mode and idle up to 59km/h ish then floor it has the same effect. 1st gear can't be selected if the car's going over 60km/h. RSK Member 340 Member For: 17y 7m 20d Gender: Male Posted 02/05/08 01:43 AM Share Posted 02/05/08 01:43 AM (edited) Well you must admit if you think these cars are slow, this is the way to show you they arn't Anyway, how about just leaving it in performance auto mode, and flooring it at 58kmh? It kicks down to 1st and really throws you back in the seat. The torque is awesome edit: oh btw this would only apply to the 4sp auto. 1st gear is limited to 80kmh and can't be selected if going over 60kmh.
