I reckon they were aiming at the third group myself. What would you have liked to see in that test Groper? And what tyres do YOU think are the best for stock rims? They have very little dry or wet grip capabilities, and a large amount of tyre roar. Let's also not forget to mention the previous days of splitting, cracking and bubbleing Dunlops a large number of us had problems with.A bit of a guess on my part, but these poor issues you raise may have related to the first release of the tyre for the BA's, as I have never had any of the problems you mention, until now where I am getting low on tread and the wet is becomming a challenge.I.B. My BA1 T is stock under the bonnet and did 51,000 noisy, gripless km on the original SP3000s.You got 51k out of them in itself says alot. I drive like an old women most days and im about to have canvess popping out at 30K. Theres the compromise if your getting 50K + versus reduced grip in the wet. I.B. They are semi slick very soft tyre and the grip levels are the best I have ever felt. Im sure something along these lines would be great on the rear of a T. They get a bit pricey though for 17/18's.... Edited 30/05/08 10:38 AM by hanra

They are a very narrow focused bunch though, being a street legal cut slick. How many klms would they last? 5k on a rear and 8k on a front? Could you drive your kids to school for a whole term with those on a T? Or take a drive to Melbourne and back on them? Not without a tyre change at somepoint I would imagine. I am personally after something in between. Something I could get 20000 klm out of, but still sticks like sh*t on a blanket. After all I spend 99% of my time going at a pretty sedate pace ( almost legal most of the time) in traffic. Seems like a waste of good rubber (and money) to fit tyres that extreme without going 9/10ths all the time.Looking at either Yokie V103s or Sdrives very soon. The Sdrives are a touch cheaper ( $25 a corner less) but also softer. Any one tried these? Edited 30/05/08 10:54 AM by craiginmackay

groper Member 611 Member For: 17y 10m 23d Posted 30/05/08 11:34 AM Share Posted 30/05/08 11:34 AM I ended up with federal RS595`s craig... so far they are lasting very well and hook 396rwkw in 2nd gear if the road is good, so far done 5000km with plenty of meat left even after a few short skids...id say id get 20000km from these if I drove 'normally' most of the time... they are what id call a good compromise. They dont wear until you flog em which heats em up and gets em soft. If you dont heat em up they dont grip nearly aswell either. kinda like performance when you need it, but economy when you dont... $390 a corner.
