They should impose a high tax on junk food, would go a long way to reducing the obesity epidemic.

That'd be a self-sustaining tax system that only taxed those who had no concept of how good we have it. In doing so, it might fire up some people to think about things and appreciate life a little more. Lifes too short to bitch and moan.

The people who can aford an extra few dollars will pay it, the people who can not will still drink as much but swap to a different alcahol. Moonshine anyone?..and what happened to free market and for that matter free country, why are they triing to control people so much. It people wana drink themself stupid all the time let them, that's their loss.

So the intent of slowing down alcohol intake is good just the chosen method is askew.
smicky Go Pies!!! You wouldn't find them enjoying a fine single malt scotch or a fine bottle of wine. For f*ck sakes where would they get the 100 dollars per bottle purchase price. GOOD ON YOU RUDD YOU DUMBf*ck. Great solution to the problem. Hopefully every stupid *beep* that voted for him has some sort of alcohol and smoking dependency.Mate I'm with ya here...I have never been one to drink much at home each night or on weekends or anything like that, however I must say when I do start on a good bottle of vodka I normally dont stop until its all gone and I need to find another one... If im lucky this happens once every 3 months if that...(Does that mean I'm a bindge drinker??? - I say yes, but only when I know Im prepared)Never take the car, and always make sure friends or someone is DDave...I remember when I was younger, all my mates when they were 15-18 thought it was great to drink under age, just to show everyone else they were better then the next... This is the problem and what leads to the whole 'young bindge' drinking...Most of the little 'SH!7s' live at home with the folks and therefore a rise in tax on the cheaper 'lollie pop' drinks (or any for that matter) is never going to stop them from doing what they do now... they still find money, simple as that...You are also 100% correct, I have never seen or heard of a little/younger drinker even knowing what a good bottle of Vodka, GlenF, Dimp, or anything of that nature is... and if they do I'm sure it would be few and far between - as drinking that type of bottle would defeat the purpose of drinking the way they do, hence back to the pre mix crap - you can drink more of that before you know you have gone to far...Rudd is inexperienced and needs to be seen to be active and doing things... Shame they are not thought through... I would be surprised if Big Kim would have ever done something quite like this... (not that I would have voted for that party regardless)... but it does go to show where Rudd is I guess....I fear for my nephews and nieces in the coming years, and wish Rudd would have maybe looked at this from a smarter and better approach - EDUCATION ON THE SUBJECT!!!All this is telling them - now that its (seen to be) 'harder' even more of a reason to do it!!!14 yrs ago I knew kids I went to school with getting pissed at school during lunch... Anyways... Not an easy topic but I do believe there is a better approach!!!
