(As some of you may know, I was in the market to buy a house, but unfortunately we needed some money from the sale of my girlfirends RAV4, but the sale fell through...So saving up for a house in the next year or so. I'm sick of my XR6 and want to trade it in for a BA XR6 Turbo ute, which is what I'm hoping to do. I can't seem to sell it privately so a turbo it is :locked:)

I've seen a 2003 BA XR6 Turbo ute that I'm considering. I wanted to do a few initial upgrades, without breaking the bank or raising my insurance premiums through the roof. Iconic Bionce, in all his infinite wisdom, was taking about upgradeing brakes and suspension to match power increases.

I'll tell you what I'm hoping to do to the car at first.

F6 CAI

Exhaust system

Custom flash tune

(Hopefully a set of Phoon rims and a tornado front bar...)

Underdrive pulley kit

I want the car to sound mean and have the balls to back it up, without being insanely fast.

I'm assuming the above mods will give me about 280rwkw.

At 280rwkw, what else should I consider? Valve springs? New fuel pump? Intercooler? Surge Tank? A high flow cat? Will I need to change the brakes and suspension at this power level?

Thanks guys, appreciated!

Dan

Mate speak to CV performance they will do you a good deal.

I think your best bet would be to get the seimens injectors

nizpro valve springs

larger fuel pump Bosch 044

keep your standard exhaust (change the cat )

This should net the above power figure your after 280 to 300rwkw for ($2500)

If its an auto stallie and rebuild may be in order also $2500 to $3000

Dont quote me on the price just what I know other people have paid.

Cheers Alf

Going fast is one thing BUT brakes / suspension / tyres will save your life :) Lots of people have standard brakes with 300rwkw but standard brakes arent that crash hot, so I'll be changing them after I collect everything to do it all at once. Nearly there :(

Standard exhaust minus middle muffler is good for plenty of power. BF exhaust anyways, as the dump is a better design. Upgrading intercooler and re-routing piping is a really good idea though as standard cooler has a pretty big pressure drop

the calipers are actually quite good it's the disc's and pads that are sh*thouse I used a set of slotted and dimpled rotors and top of the line ferodo pads and got 300% improvement in braking ,and as for exhuast just change the cat and maybe take out middle muffler ,the bf does have a better dump pipe but a more restrictive cat ,say process west sge 1 cooler ,injectors ,cai ,maybe valve springs see how they go before you replace them though ,flash tune will get you easy 280rwkw after that you may want to throw some more fuel into it

as for power to brakes once I hit 270rwkw the stock brakes where useless for more than one quick stop at a time do 3 in a row and you had no brakes left

Im not technically minded with cars, so instead of going along with most and wanting big power, I tend to advocate suspension and braking modifications/upgrades. Your safety and that of all of us on our raods may come down to that extra bit of braking or handling. The only part of your car that should ever come into contact with the roadway is your tyres.

Keep us posted.
