Sorry I didnt get the chance to catch up with you Pete.....but I did see you appear to break something..what was it? Hope it wasnt to serious.....

Yeah Reg, it was serious. It broke the rod on #2 cylinder and ventilated the crankcase. The first time in over 15 years of racing that I have oiled the track. Lucky for the cleanup crew it was after the finish line and off the racing line. I've pulled the motor out of the frame and lifted the head off. Looks like only minor marks on the head. It snapped the rocker on the exhaust side so will have to check the valves. The cases are trashed along with the crank. 1 piston down but that will mean a new set. Hopefully the g.box and clutch are still OK. It was a pretty good meeting otherwise

Just watching NHRA Qualifying on ESPN, the yanks really have some money behind these teams!

Ain't that the truth...at last count....it will cost you around 2-3 million bucks to follow the NHRA trail for a season with just one top fuel car.....multiple teams go up from there ^_^

Santo had an expensive weekend too.....we had Dobson in the shutdown area with rods hanging out all over the place on one pass and on the next one......a 7 grand billet blower reduced to shrapnel....ouch.

What was the quickest Top fuel dragster time?

Martin Stamatis ran 4.57...then came past me in the braking area on three wheels after running 500+ kph at the finish line...man, that looked spectacular.....

Actually, we saw a fair bit of action in the deep end over the weekend, dobbo blowing stuff up, Steve read blew the clutch right out of the fueller, Upton's fuel bike on fire, Stevens beached his Harley (twice)....and Stamartis' effort in the final.....kept us busy.

Nice effort from our lads there Reg, I noticed aussie lad Dave Grubnic was high in the Qualifying last night too, good to see the flag being flown (not that he sounds much like an aussie any more!)

  • Oh look.... a real car, with no hair dryer
