I'll be getting Maxxis (can't remember the exact one) in 17" for $149 a tyre next month after my current ones go up in smoke.

Thanks guys,

Yeah sorry about the generic questions but I appreciate the fact that everyone here can help out pretty much straight away. I'm really keen on learning more about T's coz I've wanted one for ages and I still haven't got one. I'd rather ask more questions and get flamed than go out and do a 2K mod that everyone tells me is sh*t and a waste of time. There's just so much I want to know and there are lots of guys here on the forum that really know their sh*t - so thanks everyone for your input.

I've looked on tyre websites and found nothing and every tyre shop I've talked to is completely different. Just wanted a rough idea.

Cheers everyone. Once again - apologies...

Dan

Don't apologise mate - you got as much right to ask a question on here as anyone else.

As the blokes said - there is a lot of variation/different factors. Better off getting a specific wheel size and going from there. From what I have seen a rule of thumb would be: (for nearly all sizes, per tyre)

$100-200 - don't bother

$200-300 - probably the zone most people will be in. You can get some decent ones in this range. Pick carefully however.

$300-400 - Good tires in this range. Starting to get pricey however

$400-500 - Upper end of the market. Real performance tyres

As always find out about grip (in the rain especially) and how soft they are. You might get an awesome tyre for the right price but if it wears out in 10,000km - there isn't much point.

I got 20’s. My tires were $250 each and they are the sh1ttest tyres I have ever owned. I used to pay $300 for decent 18’s on my old car.

Hope that helps somewhat

Price varies a huge amount depending on brand and quality.

The 275/40/20's on our Territory cost $345.00 each.

The 275/35/19's on our Monaro retail at ~$1,100.00 each.

Got the Dunlop SP Sports Maxx on the F6 BFII 19" for about $400 fitted and balanced here in Sydney... (one off rubber)... Quotes ranged from 550$ Plus everyone except a few of the shops I have used before....

City Ford wanted 825$ a rubber, had to ask 3 times and that was still the price!!!

Might be able to get a bigger discount for all 4x to be replaced at the same time if anyone needs...

Rarely are all four needed at a given time, unless upgrading with rims as well.
