If anyone broke into my house, I would give them the keys and some cash for fuel if they wanted.

Once they are in your house, you do whatever is asked of you, unless you have a gun. It is not worth loosing your life or having you or your family injured.

If someone is desprate enough to break in, they can have whatever is not breathing in my place.

While it is a bastard act to steal another persons property, it happens all the time and this is what insurance is for.

My mate had his keys stolen and his VT V8 wagon pinched a few years back. Was found stacked like this too.

The only difference is that my mate went out on the piss, smashed his car and did a runner. He then jimmied the door open at home and reported it stolen in the morning. He got caught.

Some insurance study was released on the radio this morning, claiming that a thrid of all cars are stolen from garages and car ports. The other third from the street and car parks and the remaining third for what everything else, like car jacking etc.

If someone crashes into the back of my car and attempts a hi-jack manouvre, I get out of the car with a flamethrower so even if it is a innocent love tap or a hi-jack manourvre I say jump out all guns blazing..

If the cops can't find them hire a private investigator and send a message...

Was it a write off?

I never leave my keys at home when I go out. I always hide them or take them with me.

2 friends of mine have had cars stolen from their home garages. One Audi TT and one Merc CLK. Neither were ever recovered. Probably rebirthed - if that happens anymore - otherwise, flash getaway cars for crims.

The MO was the same as mooks1's mates - home broken into silently in the night, keys found and the cars driven away. Wallets left behind though.
