LOL  I was close I can't be right all the time ! I have the C&V generic tune box air fuel ratio was 12 on both tunes I live in far north west QLD only one tuner & he is a capa dealer but I would not let him work on my lawn mower, had some warranty work done a coil pack changed at only 20000km they had my car for 7 days to find the problem ?

As soon as I got it back they said they flashed it & it has been doing the backfire thing every now & then, Wondering if my cat is gone to as there is a shacking noise when I hit bumps under there.

My car did a similar thing this afternoon. It backfired on start up and stalled but there was also smoke comming from under the bonnet. When I checked nothing was on fire. Car took a fair bit longer cranking then normal to start after and then idled a bit higher than normal. Car drove home fine. Its a stock BA auto. Any ideas on the cause or where the smoke came from?

My ute has done this a few times. Only does it randomly when the weather is hot, or sometimes after I shut the car off and start it again shortly after. It happens randomly and my car is stock. Kind of hard to diagnose when it has only happened a handful of times.

Someone mentioned on here that it may be a fuel evaporation issue.

Update.

After pulling off the cross over pipes found out my car had blown off th line after the PCV. Replaced line and refitted pipes. Car start and ran as per usual. Drove car to work.

Tried to start car after about 3 hours andit backfired again and blown of the PCV line again. About to go go re attach line,

Anyone have an idea why the car is backfiring? And how to stop it?
