Tim Member 142 Member For: 16y 10m 18d Posted 23/02/10 08:12 AM Share Posted 23/02/10 08:12 AM My car did a similar thing this afternoon. It backfired on start up and stalled but there was also smoke comming from under the bonnet. When I checked nothing was on fire. Car took a fair bit longer cranking then normal to start after and then idled a bit higher than normal. Car drove home fine. Its a stock BA auto. Any ideas on the cause or where the smoke came from? Only does it randomly when the weather is hot, or sometimes after I shut the car off and start it again shortly after. It happens randomly and my car is stock. Kind of hard to diagnose when it has only happened a handful of times. Someone mentioned on here that it may be a fuel evaporation issue.
