There has been lots going on to distract me from the gas installation but at long last its very near completion. All the hardware is installed and there remains the fabrication of the GAS ECU mounting bracket to finalise it all. In the meantime, I had to re-route and replace the gas feed hose with copper hardline, due to issues with gas converter contamination being blamed on the hose leaching this waxy, soapy crud that did nobody any good. It hasnt been shown conclusively that it was the problem, but that's how it goes when it comes to getting the system inspected and passed. Just the fun bit now, a little time with tuning and then see how it all goes. First tune will simply use the Tartarini tuning program to establish a baseline then Sniper to make more specific spark and boost changes. More info as it happens. MJKPS Our second sons arrival has been just one distraction.... But a worthwhile one..!! How often do you have a tyre blow out the cost saving using gas you can afford to buy a new tyre anywhere.Gassa

After looking at the copper service line install I decided to remove the fuel tank and route the line on the inside of the chassis rail for neatness and fit a Walbro GSS-340 at the same time for added insurance. The tank is held in bysix bolts andis a little awkward to balance on the transmission jack ( Its like a coffin..) but once lowered the pump assembly can be easily removed. The new pump slides in easily and it was very surprising how much crap there was in the filter sock after 22 000kms. While the tank was down, I ran the copper service line and attached it as per regulations, every 300mm (actually closer as it looked neater and tidier). I will post a few more pics as I forgot the camera that day. Later dudes!Mal K.PS Make sure you use the correct submersible fuel hose if you change pumps, normal EFI hose just disintegrates... cobramad Member 824 Member For: 19y 7m 13d Gender: Male Location: Perth Posted 18/12/09 03:41 PM Author Share Posted 18/12/09 03:41 PM Hi all, Im back with what will be the final instalment of the gas injection saga. Ive finally got off my lazy ass and completed the conversion, without going into the factory ecu to make the gas control more comprehensive and simply tuned using the Tartarini software and ecu. Ive found that the injector blocks that comprise the fuel delivery system ( two groups, one set for cylinders 1,2 and 3, the other obviously 4,5 and 6, would only support enough flow for 11lbs of boost before leaning out and causing the system to default back to petrol operation. The only way to get the gas going again is to switch off the vehicle and restart it, as the gas ecu sees this lean out as a major fault (rightly so!!!) While its been a slow and at times painful process, I have learned heaps and it will certainly prove useful in the future. I have now changed career path (offshore oil and gas as mechanical work doesnt nearly pay as much it really needs to..!) so now that I have a little more coin, I have decided to go to town on the Tezza. The gas system wont go to waste as Im transferring it to our hack-around BF wagon. Im looking closely at the fantastic results Dyno-Junkie has achieved and will shortly be heading that way myself. Once again, thanks for your patience and stay tuned for more Territory madness.Mal K
cobramad Member 824 Member For: 19y 7m 13d Gender: Male Location: Perth Posted 12/03/10 04:08 PM Author Share Posted 12/03/10 04:08 PM OK, the saga continues again. Now that Im earning better coin, and Im away with work lots, Ive decided to really go to town on the mighty Territory Ghia Turbo.. Seeing as we really dont need two daily drive vehicles, we are flogging off the BF wagon and simply going to use the Territory. The wife enjoys the space and the power, not to mention the seven seats, and seeing as our third baby is due in September, the BF simply doesnt have the seating for all of us, and our two dogs. Im not going to tell her exactly what I plan to do, but it goes along these lines. 1. Plazmaman front mount and piping 2. Top mount air intake 3. FG Intake manifold 4. Deka 60lb injectors 5. Ballistic 4in Cat 6. Finally fit 6 spot Brembo's 7. 3.46 LSD diff 8. Revised LPG Injection systemThe research suggests that by using some Keihin gas injectors, which support 100hp each, I will finally be able to run some decent boost (1 Bar +) everywhere, while using the existing gas software and hardware. Its just having to fabricate the gas injection rail underneath the manifold so it doesnt intrude onto the existing petrol rail. I forsee some fine TIG welding ahead of me and a whole lot of head scratching and maybe a sleepless night or two, but its all worth it, especially when there a few doomsayers, knockers and so called experts who claimed loudly that it couldnt be done. To all of them just let me say.... Get Stuffed!! Hah!As to all the rest of the interested masses, I will keep on with the updates and progress, joys and quite possibly lots of tears, recrimination and grey hair.Mal K

Hardest part is working out the correct sequence of work, as Im inherently lazy and dont want to be doing things two or three times. Have to balance that with not leaving the vehicle in a million bits for too long.. Im just dreaming of the day when its all finished and tuned.. I will notify the insurers of the non-standard 'cooler and upgraded brake package, as for the rest, I will live with it. Not looking forward to fabricating the injector ports to the bottom of the FG intake, but there isnt enough room on the top for both the petrol and gas injectors, seeing as they need to be as close to the intake port as practical. Have to have a couple of practice runs with the TIG, cant bear the thought of frying my new manifold.. If there was only an easy way to reduce the kerb mass by 200-300kg... I have thought of turfing the missus and kids out, but that isnt the most wise move, cos remember this Happy wife, Happy life!! Just have to keep the eyes on the prize.... I just couldn't leave it stock when it responds so well to a little tuning. Either way, its a great way to have performance and economy to boot! Great stuff indeed!Mal K
