Our Territory is great to own and drive but is a mite thirsty around town and being from WA, an applicable gas conversion is eliglble for $3000 in both Federal and State rebates. Its proven to be a pain in the ass to firstly purchase the kit (Strong demand and being a small customer didn't help) and then there is the added hassle of getting the appropriate tuning software ( still being resolved...) but I reckon its going to be worth it. Gas vapour injection is heaps nicer, from an installation and operational point of view, and does away with those almighty backfires and heavy gas useage. It transitions seamlessly from gas to petrol and vice versa, and has proven to use about 10-20% more gas, as opposed to 40-50% more using a vapour ring, which incidentally acts as a significant restriction to air intake. Im hoping to keep you all informed via a series of pics and explaination as to the progress Im making.. Im aiming for a level of fitment that would not be out of place as an OEM fitment. Before you get too concerned, Im a licenced Automotive gas fitter not your average backyarder. Stay tuned!Mal K

Im intending to map the gas and fuel side of things separately initally, cant be too careful when first setting up. Dont want to create too many issues at once, perhaps later on. I couldn't notice the difference between petrol and gas.

Im collecting them tomorrow and shall get some pics up as soon as possible. Word from the gas kit supplier and installer is that the end of the Federal Govt rebate will be announced in the May Budget, effective 30th of June. Have to really pull finger and get this project on the go or wear the cost of the kit entirely ( not a good option!!).

None of these injection kits are cheap to buy, however they are certainly nicer to fit and can be almost stealthy..Getting the kit on Monday, its been hectic at work with my partners wife just giving birth, leaving me with the crap job of working AND answering the damn phone... :-)
cobramad Member 824 Member For: 19y 4m 9d Gender: Male Location: Perth Posted 05/05/08 12:39 PM Author Share Posted 05/05/08 12:39 PM Finally have it in my hot little hands, first impressions are that it looks a little daunting, huge pile of bits, ecu, harness and the like. Tank uses two cylinders of different diameters linked together so as to not compromise ground clearance and departure angle and weighs a bit. Will have to fabricate appropriate bracketry to support the converter and filters ( yes, even LPG needs to be effectively filtered to avoid blocking the injector blocks. ) Most critical part will be drilling and tapping the lower section of the intake manifold while not filling the motor with swarf... If it seems too hard I will just remove it and drill & tap on the bench. Its not the drilling that creates much swarf, but tapping certainly does! The gas is dispensed to a series of injector tubes that are installed in the manifold, via an injector block. Anyway, enough of the talk, camera is coming to work tomorrow and then it will become a little clearer.
