Just got into my car and it wont shift reverse unless I rev to about 15 hundred and it picks it up... Still seems to drive fine in forward gears but thinking the box has given up after a month at 300+ lol. The car also feels down on power, could this be bacause of the slipping? Anyway, who in Melbourne builds or rebuilds a box to suit this power and what sort of coin am I looking at?

Thanks

Try Kewish or Preston Automatics. They're probably the top 2 goin around in Melb. I will get mind done from either one of those once my box decides to go.

Expect between 2k-3k for a full rebuild to suit your pwr levels but get it confirmed with them first.

I've experienced 4 speed auto rebuilds more times than I care to remember...

With that in mind Kewish Automotive (9793 2220) or Baywater Automatics (9729 9155) are the places to talk too.

No worries well Bayswater is reasonably close, where is Kewish? Ive heard of them a few times. So basically id be looking 2-3k... that's more or less what I was expecting. If im paying for a rebuild would it hurt to keep driving it? It drives perfect in forward gears

Kewish are in Dandenong. Just down the road from HPF.

You might find that one of the forward gears doesn't work. Mine lost reverse, second and fourth.

Drive it in manual mode to check. If you don't feel it change when you ask it to with the shifter you've got a problem there aswell.

around $2300 from nizpro

only done about 1000k's but it feels nice and strong

Was this drive in drive out? And is it stronger than std? Seems like a good price though!

na I had my local shop who gets on well with nizpro, fitted it for me around $600 for that plus we set up a real good trans cooler that was another $450

at the end of the day theres not a real lot than can be done to them yet just better clutch packs ,bands and putting it together PROPERLY then the tune makes for the rest of the reliability

it feels great I don't have to go backwards with this box wind up to 60k's locked in first flick second and do your best to keep the car in a straight line god it's fun

Another one bites the dust !! Mine held on for 12 months with about 300 odd rwkw but as soon as I upped the power and torque to 340 + it gave up within a month.
