Have just been in Brisbane for a week, came back and started my car and all of a sudden the ignition barrel doesn't stop on accessories or anything, it just turns straight and starts the car (car was locked and parked while I was gone).

Only 85,000 ks and I have no idea what has happened to it. Is this common?

I have since tried my spare key and it does the same thing, so must be the barrel.

Has anyone changed a barrel? What are they worth?

I can still get just accessories by turning the key slightly, but it doesn't stop or click if you know what I'm trying to say.

I'm thinking I should probably fix it before it siezes...?

hi mate

the prob wont be the barrel

but the electrical part of the switch on the back of it.

I dont know about the b series but

on the E series u cant just replace the elec switch as it is part of the housing you have to replace the whole ignition lock assy, im pretty sure its the same with the b series,

cheers Mike

Mine started doing this a couple of days ago also. When you turn the key on it just goes through the range of motion without any stages. Also when you turn the car off it springs straight to the off position. Has any one on here fixed this before? Otherwise it might have to be a trip to the auto lec to get him to fix it.

u use the old barrel just take it out and fit it to the new one.

its basically the same as the ea-au design.
