Every manual I race with the auto I beat during the change.

I flat shifted the arse out of my ute when I had it and couldn't even get the tyres to chirp, and on a flat change there was a moment of LAG that was pronounced during the 2nd to 3rd change. F6 ute I had the same guy tune my ute as you did and I still had this issue, perhaps your senses are just too dull to notice the lag old man :roflmbo:

weve had alot of debate over this BOV issue, it wasnt clear from the people on here who have changed their BOV, or run no bov at all, whether it reduced thier lag or not?

I think simon from nispro, said it was no help. I always believed that it might be but never tried it because of what ive read on here...

anyone know of somone running a big BOV that has improved their lag between shifts???

the top 4 manual guys use no blow off valve including myself. flat changing is the key!

thanks, I tried removing and sealing the manifold line to the BOV to test this out, but I think the bov was leaking boost when I did this as the car didnt pull as hard under WOT.

I have to try again, this time blocking off the BOV completely.

im trying for an 11 sec pass this winter...

well I blocked off the BOV and I must say, I can hardly tell the difference in lag between shifts, just a lot more tut tut tut tut tut tut tut tut tut... im betting the difference is fairly marginal.

Also practiced some flat changing, scary at first, but not so hard afterall... preload the gearstick in the direction of the next gear, hold the throttle flat, stab the clutch, and straight into the next gear she goes...

My 'testing' did net me a $250 speeding fine just as I was almost back at the speed limittho... :uhuhuh::police:

thank god he didnt get me 200m further back up the road

I bet you were using slicks too?

He was using MT streets on 15" rims. Your clutch needs to be upto the task of flat shifting too. My stock T56 clutch loved it into 2nd and 3rd with 250rwkw's even though it would slip on boost in 4th. Youngy had a Mal Wood Opt 6, F6 UTE has a Stock F6 (AP) unit.

Here are the graphs with the latest results. The black line is the linear average.

All transmissions:

ZF Automatic 6 speed:

Automatic 4 speed:

mphvsrwkwA4.bmp

Manual 6 speed:

Pretty interesting eh! ... The Auto 6 speed figures are the most consistent while the Manual 6 speed is all over the place.

I think that this should provide a handy reference for both experienced and first time drag racers.

What do you guys think?
