I'm guessing you mean "B"F rather than EF, but it can be a problem, your car is under warranty, so get the ford guys to fix it - is it leaking alot?

yep...BF (its been a long day!!) :stupid:

It's leaking a fair bit, particularly after a long stint. I suspect the o-ring to the high pressure pipe has  itself.

Have organised the ford dealer to check it monday...just interested to see if this is common or otherwise.

Bit concerned that the heated fluid is dropping onto the alternator directly below.

the alternator should be fine, I've seen plenty of alternators swimming in fluid and they turn out just fine strangely enough!

No Worries mate

If your high pressure pipe is leaking fraud willl try and sell you the entire pipe and hose assembly ($400+) if you can't squeeze it through under waranty, your local pirtek/enzed hose dude should have the nouce to replace the fitting with out replacing the hose. If your mech minded you can do it yourself with a junior hacksaw and a dremel with a cut off wheel. You need to cut the old fitting off (without knicking the pipe) and the new fitting with the new oring clips onto the pipe. obviously you'l need to flush the pipe so you dont get any metal contamination in the steering system. You can get the fittings for around $40 from coventries or your local equvilent.

How bloody typical! $400 from Fraud and $40 from someone else.

When mine was leaking slightly from the lower pipe (above the alternator) it jsut required a retension. 1/4 turn of the wrench and it hasnt begun leaking again in over 5 months.

give this a try first, but go easy, just gently nip it up.

thanks for the info lads...the dealer has agreed it's warranty work, so we'll see how they go...the mechs are pretty vague though??

Did they look at it or did you just speak to them? If you only spoke to them they'd be pretty loathe to speculate at that point. My guess is the high pressure hose is leaking. Mine went twice under warrantly on the BA and the last one that went was out of warranty. I replaced it with a reco'd enzed unit. A year later and no dramas from the hose, but now the pump is actually leaking so I'll need to replace that.
