Hey guys,

Every now and again..when I decide to give my ute a bit of boot I occasionally get an intense rattling sound coming from the front of the ute. Its a very fast rattle and doesn't sound very nice at all.

This only happens when I am really planting the foot and it also feels like ive lost power. The boost doesn't come on as hard.

My car has 267rwk running a 10psi tune.

Any ideas as what this could be?

Thanks,

Steve.

that's the sound of your pistons trying to leave your engine.

best you only run 98 octane fuel and get your car looked at by your tuner and tell him whats happening.

if it happens again back off and wait till you see your tuner.

it sounds like its pinging badly.

Yep, sounds like detonation/pinging... only use 98/100 octane, if its still doing it flash in the 8psi tune then head off to a tuner for custom tune.

So what was the problem Steve?

Well...A little embarrasing haha :gtfo2:

Since I've had the car I always used BP ultimate 98.

I thought I would give Caltex a go...I had no idea they made a Vortex 95 and Vortex 98...I just assumed Vortex was 98.

It didn't help that my local Caltex only had 95 Vortex as well. So I was never to know there were two kinds. When I called into a different Caltex on the way home from a drive yesterday to get a drink I noticed that there were two different kinds of Vortex.

So I ran the tank empty last night and filled with Ultimate again. And the car is running like it used to.

Thanks for the help though guys.
