Hey Skooby, what brand did you get? Or was it a custom jobbie? How much? Where from?

I was looking at the Red Back systems. Had one on the old car, and it was plenty loud and gave good power for the $180 it cost me fitted...

Anyone have one on their T, any good or bad comments to do with power and sound??

Cheers Mike

I got a Lukey from T For Tyres in Wonthaggi (SE Gippsland). It cost me $850 complete which is probably higher priced than the places in the city but I really don't have much selection in workshops down here. I could've driven to dandenong or cranbourne but the savings made would've been done away with the cost of petrol.

I was told that the Redback systems are pretty quiet when I said I wanted something with a nice note. But sounds are open to differing opinions as everyone's will differ.

I took it for another spin down the country roads tonight when the roads got quieter (and darker) and I've definitely picked up power. Driving with the changer, 1st to 2nd came along much quicker than it ever has (and smoother too).

I said to my wife tonight that I needed 2 new rear tyres (worn on the inside, but didn't know until it was on the hoist today) and a major service with a handbrake fix and a new door actuator which was going to be pushing the 1 grand mark. I then eased into the conversation that I wanted an edit and some gauges and she surprised me when she simply said "ok" :joy:

Not looking for anything over the top (yet) but nice to know I have the blessings of the finance minister.

:fishin:

Just thought I'd update this now that I've run the exhaust in. Was up around the fountain gate area yesterday and the car was really boogie'ing. Awesome note on hard acceleration and it's a lot more responsive. My tututututu has returned. Yay!

WOW $850 is in the high end, for what im guessing is a 'off the shelf' system, but yer in woop woop, they do tend to charge what they want...

I've seen redback systems on ebay for around $400-$500 plus postage and fitting so it would neary be close to what you paid in the end....

Good to see you happy with it... I really want a nice exhaust note, all I hear is turbo, not that that's bad but, its missing something..

Adding to what senna_T said when you get the edit, it'll be like having a new car..

Cheers Mike

I have this fear that my auto will pack it in if I get an edit done. It's the one thing that has concerned me in the past and stopped me from getting it done. I know it sounds paranoid but if the auto went on me I'd be getting a lot more exercise for awhile.

I had a choice of 3 exhaust places.

1. Autobarn - Kept telling me that Herrod were the only company that could make a system for the T. All my suggestions (ie: 2.5" twin) were dismissed with a "you've got no idea what you're talking about" look. Next!

2. Phillip Island service centre - Went and saw the owner 4 times..each time he was to get a price for me and ring back..each time he never rang back. I figured he must be a millionaire and doesn't need the business. What he doesn't know is that I was going to get my new rear tyres and service done through him too. His loss!

3. T For Tyres (part of the carline muffler group) - Scott was great. Took the time to ring around and actually returned phone calls. He'd never worked on a T and suggested a 3" single. After getting the advice from here I rang him and asked to change the system. He didn't sound convinced but to his credit he rang around and was informed it was the best system for the car and let me know I was correct in the change.

As I said, once petrol etc came into part it was going to cost the same. I also don't mind paying extra for great customer service and someone that is just as passionate about my car as I am.
